Man Sentenced to 40 Years to Life for Killing Four Homeless Men in New York
A New York man convicted of killing four homeless men in a brutal series of attacks across Manhattan has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.
The convict, identified as 31-year-old Randy Santos, carried out the deadly attacks in October 2019, targeting homeless men who were asleep in different parts of Chinatown.
Speaking during the sentencing, Ward said the incident represented the “coming together of three horrible symptoms of this city homelessness, mental illness and narcotics abuse.”
She added: “I’ve been on the bench for about 30 years and those are the three things that seem to be the constant in almost all of our violent crime cases.”
The judge also expressed sorrow over the fact that the victims were among the most vulnerable members of society.
“I had a difficult time getting past the fact that he targeted the most vulnerable people in our society,” Ward said.
“People who were doing nothing but sleeping on the street, homeless,” she added.
Before delivering the sentence, the judge reviewed CCTV footage showing Santos carrying out the attacks.
Earlier this year, Santos was found guilty on four counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder, and one count of attempted first-degree assault.
During the sentencing hearing, Santos apologized for his actions and pleaded for a chance to rebuild his life after prison.
“I just want to say, I’m very sorry for what I did,” Santos said, according to the Associated Press.
“I apologize to the people for what I did. I feel very bad about what I did. I wish it never happened,” he added.
Santos also told the court he planned to continue his education and improve his English while serving his sentence.
He further stated that his “mind [was] much better now” and claimed he felt like a different person.
Meanwhile, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Alfred Peterson became emotional while addressing the court, noting the absence of victim impact statements.
“There’s nobody here to tell this court about their lives and how their absence is a loss,” Peterson said.
“But I’m certain this court and this city understands the value of every life, and the gift of life that we’re afforded to live and make choices and have free will.”
Peterson added that Santos had taken that “gift” away from the victims.
According to prosecutors, Santos first attacked 49-year-old Anthony Manson, who was sleeping outside 17 East Broadway. Authorities said Santos repeatedly struck him in the head with a metal pipe, killing him.
He then crossed the street and attacked a group of homeless men sleeping on the sidewalk near 2 East Broadway.
Two of the victims, Nazario Abdelardo Vazquez Villegas, 55, and Florencio Moran Camano, 39, died from the assault, while another victim, David Hernandez, 49, survived with serious injuries.
Santos later moved into the Bowery area of Lower Manhattan, where he attacked 83-year-old Cheun Kok, who was sleeping near Doyers Street. Prosecutors said Santos struck Kok several times in the head, killing him.
Witnesses quickly contacted emergency services, and Santos fled the scene with the metal pipe before he was eventually arrested by New York City police officers near Mulberry and Canal Streets.
Investigators later linked Santos to another attack involving a homeless man near Chelsea Piers weeks before the killings.
During the trial, Santos’ defense team argued that he suffered from schizophrenia, which had been diagnosed months before the attacks occurred.
Since his arrest, Santos has reportedly moved between jail and psychiatric treatment facilities.
Defense lawyer Arnold Levine pleaded with the court not to impose a life-ending sentence.
“We ask that Mr. Santos not be sentenced to die in prison,” Levine said.
“He is not incorrigible or beyond redemption or hope,” he added.
However, the judge rejected the request and sentenced Santos to 40 years to life in prison.
Following the sentencing, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said the attacks had deeply shaken New York City.
“He displayed an appalling disregard for the lives of his victims, who were completely defenseless and unable to protect themselves,” Bragg stated.
He added: “Unhoused individuals deserve the same level of safety as anyone else, and I hope the resolution of this case serves as a reminder of the work that remains in protecting and supporting our most vulnerable residents.”

The tragic incident happened on February 9, 2024, when police were called to Thomas’ home in Kansas City at around 1:30pm following a report of a baby who was not breathing.

According to court documents, investigators were told that Mariah had intended to put her daughter down for a nap but mistakenly placed her in the oven instead of the crib.
A family member later told detectives that Mariah had said:
“I thought I put her in her crib and I accidentally put her in the oven.”
More than two years after her daughter’s death, the 28-year-old pleaded guilty on Tuesday to first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death.
Jackson County court records show that she was sentenced to 13 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. She was not given probation and will receive credit for time already served.
Thomas had initially been charged with first-degree murder, but that charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Investigators also documented evidence from the scene, including the baby’s clothing and a blanket that had burn damage.
Thomas initially declined to speak with detectives after being informed of her rights. She later agreed to provide a blood sample and allow investigators to access information from her cellphone.
When the original charges were announced in February 2024, then-Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker described the child’s death as a “gruesome” tragedy.
“We acknowledge the gruesome nature of this tragedy, and our hearts are weighted by the loss of this precious life,” Baker said at the time. “We trust the criminal justice system to respond appropriately to these awful circumstances.”
Court records show that prosecutors later added the first-degree murder charge, which was ultimately dismissed under the plea agreement.
Thomas will now serve the 13-year prison sentence imposed by the court.

Dulce reportedly underwent the cosmetic procedure on September 11 at an inmueble in the Del Valle area of Mexico City after finding Pink Glow Clinic through social media.
She had reportedly been preparing for her wedding, which was scheduled for December.

Dulce reportedly attended a consultation on August 27 and paid around £3,300, equivalent to 80,000 Mexican pesos, in advance for the procedure.
Reports state that she had also fasted for almost 18 hours before arriving for the surgery.
However, the address where the procedure took place was different from the location where she had initially attended her consultation.
When her relatives arrived at the second location, they reportedly found what appeared to be a residential building rather than a clinic. Reports said there was no visible Pink Glow Clinic sign outside the building.
Dulce arrived at the location at around 1pm on September 11.
About two and a half hours later, her family was urgently contacted and asked to come to the location after her condition deteriorated.
According to the family, a doctor told them that Dulce had suffered significant blood loss before going into cardiorespiratory arrest. Her body was later removed by forensic officers after 7pm, and authorities secured the premises.
Her partner, Emir Kaleb, said a staff member came out with Dulce’s belongings several hours after she entered the building and instructed him to call an ambulance.
He also claimed that staff members attempted to resuscitate her using oxygen and chest compressions but appeared not to have the emergency equipment he expected to see.
Mexican authorities have launched an investigation into Dulce’s death and secured the property where the procedure took place.
Reports state that prosecutors are investigating suspected negligent homicide and other possible offences. No confirmed arrest had been reported in the available reports, and the identity of the person who performed the procedure had not been publicly released.
Dulce’s family also raised concerns about the conditions surrounding the procedure. Her sister reportedly noticed needle marks beneath her ribs and on her buttocks, although the significance of those marks has not been officially established.
The family further said Dulce had expressed concerns that the facility did not have a blood bank.
They also claimed that a doctor had been “very rough” during a pre-operative test involving cannulas and needle punctures.
Dulce’s son, Didier González, paid tribute to his mother and described her as a “warrior.”
The social media accounts associated with Pink Glow Clinic were later reported to have removed their posts.

The court heard that Groves sexually abused the girl over a number of years while she was still a child, including raping her nine times.
The victim, whose identity is protected, told the court about the lasting impact the abuse had on her childhood. Police praised her for what they described as her exceptional bravery in coming forward.
She said: “I am just a shell of my former self. I don’t remember chunks of my childhood because of what Groves did, and this is because of the trauma I have been through.

Groves was subsequently arrested in connection with the abuse while he was in custody.
Police carried out a detailed investigation, while specialist support services were provided to the victim. Groves was charged in October last year, convicted by a jury in June and sentenced on September 9.
The jury unanimously found Groves, who was named as James Groves on the indictment and referred to as James during the sentencing hearing, guilty of 19 separate non-recent offences, including nine counts of rape.
In addition to his prison sentence, Groves will remain subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.

Da’ron Donta Jenkins has been charged with two counts of murder following the deaths of his mother and his younger brother, Daryn.

Teenager Jailed for 4 Years in UK for Recording and Selling Child Abuse Material to Paedophiles

The 19-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, after pleading guilty to causing or inciting children to engage in sexual activity, making and distributing indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornography.
The court heard that Ayoola used online communications to target children, encouraged them to engage in sexual activities during video calls and recorded some of the interactions before distributing the material to other offenders.
Ayoola was first arrested at his home in Cardiff in January 2025 after police seized several electronic devices. Investigators found hundreds of indecent images of children on the devices, including 455 Category A images, 401 Category B images and 389 Category C images.
The court was also told that Ayoola had been involved in communications with children online, including a 12-year-old girl. Prosecutors presented evidence of further interactions involving children between the ages of 11 and 13 and a younger child.
Police arrested Ayoola again on March 5, 2026, and discovered additional indecent images involving children, including material involving children as young as four.
During police questioning, Ayoola admitted sharing and sending the material and said financial pressure had influenced his actions. His defence lawyer, Martha Smith-Higgins, told the court that he had lost his mother when he was six years old and later moved from Nigeria to the UK. She also said he was remorseful.
However, Judge Vanessa Francis rejected the suggestion that the offences were not sexually motivated.
The judge said:
“The children you exploited were much younger than you, some were very young indeed. These children required protection and you were encouraging them to pose for extremely harmful material. This was a grievous form of sexual abuse.
“These were not simply images; they were children whose trust and vulnerability were exploited in order to make sexual material.”
In addition to the four-year prison sentence, Ayoola will be subject to sex offender notification requirements indefinitely. He has also been placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

The three Nigerian nationals identified by the DOJ are Helen Sayen Adams, 67; Joshua Nmelichukwu Akpom, 27; and Gladys Adaeze Okafor, 56.
According to the Department of Justice, Adams is a Nigerian citizen and lawful permanent resident who has held a green card since May 2024. She was charged with voting by an alien in a federal election and making a false statement of citizenship in order to register to vote.
Federal prosecutors said Adams allegedly claimed to be a U.S. citizen on a Texas voter registration application in June 2024 and later voted in the November 2024 general election in Tarrant County.
Akpom, 27, is also a Nigerian citizen and lawful permanent resident, having held permanent resident status since 2016. He was charged with making false statements in relation to naturalization.
According to prosecutors, Akpom allegedly denied on his 2026 naturalization application that he had previously claimed U.S. citizenship, registered to vote or voted, despite records showing that he registered to vote in 2017 and voted in the 2018 general election. Prosecutors said the voting conduct itself was outside the applicable statute of limitations, leading them to pursue the naturalization-related charge.
Meanwhile, Okafor, 56, a Nigerian national and lawful permanent resident living in Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with unlawfully voting as a non-citizen.
The Department of Justice said Okafor was born in Aba, Nigeria, and obtained lawful permanent resident status in December 2022. Prosecutors allege that she submitted a voter registration form in July 2022 in which she certified that she was a U.S. citizen and subsequently voted in the 2022 midterm elections.
The DOJ also said she submitted another voter registration form in October 2023 identifying herself as a U.S. citizen and allegedly voted in the 2024 presidential primary election.
The cases form part of a broader federal enforcement action announced by the Justice Department concerning non-citizen voting and false citizenship claims in federal elections.
The Justice Department emphasized that criminal complaints, indictments and charging documents contain accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
