The incident reportedly happened during a stop on the Liberty Under Fire USA tour, where Benichou said she was hosting an open debate on the university campus.
According to Benichou, Togochog approached the group while conservative activists Cam Higby and Joe Redden were displaying signs reading: “Is Islam compatible with Western values?” and “Is Islam evil?”
Benichou claimed that the student first confronted Higby and Redden before the situation turned physical.
Speaking on Fox & Friends, Benichou said:
“We were just wanting to have an open, civil conversation and she didn’t seem to want to listen; she wanted to just start shouting.”
She alleged that Togochog struck Redden in the face with her phone before turning towards her and attacking her.
Benichou also described the exchange that reportedly happened shortly before the physical confrontation.
“She came up towards me, and I told her, you would not be able to do this in Iran.
“At this point, Cam Higby had been standing next to me and said……She wouldn’t be allowed to be dressed like this”
“I had also said, ‘If you were in Iran dressed like this, what would happen to you?…..And there were some Jordanian students next to me, and I asked them, ‘Am I right?’ And then she just lunged.”
During the incident, Togochog allegedly lunged at Benichou and shoved her face towards the floor. She was reportedly arrested following the confrontation.
Before her social media account was made private, Togochog had reportedly shared videos on TikTok, including one showing her mental health prescriptions.
