Mya and Kennedy, a trans couple, have opened up about their journey of love, family, and self-discovery after both transitioning to their preferred genders.
In an interview with Origin, the couple revealed that Mya was born male, while Kennedy was born female. They met in 2010, fell in love, and had two children before deciding to transition.
After embracing their true identities, Mya and Kennedy got married in 2018 and have been navigating life as a couple and parents ever since. They share a 9-year-old son and a 12-year-old son.

When asked if their children knows about their transition, Mya said: “I think they know that we have transitioned but we havent had like a sit down family discussion about it so the discussion around that would keep away from them for now but other than that all bets are off”
When asked if she has fears about their gender, mya added saying: “When we moved out here because we are from washington DC it is much different you know they have so many resources, it is so progressive so much diversity, When you come here it is none of that i was concerned on how people would receive us once they see us my husband and my kids we blend when we are out and very nicely, publicly speaking about who we are it is a little scary i mean we are here we are not going no where so somebody has to be the voice for our community and i have signed up for it so here we are”

How she feels eversince her transition, she added saying: “Being a transgender I have been very insecure about my body, my voice about the way i look and one of the most important things for me is to be able to walk amongst everyone and sort of blend in because it is important for safety and also important for my children, So i am excited about how i look but there is still a nip tucks that i want to do …… i am not going to be a joan rivers about this situation”
Looking at the mirror, she added: “I see a beautiful woman, like being a transgender woman, you grow up with the body of a male and you look in the mirror everyday and you be like I feel like this inside and my body looks like a guy but i see a woman i don’t see a guy”

How she feels when she first saw her vagina,Mya said: ‘When you first get the surgery done it is a hot mess, it is very raw and its bloody and stitches are hanging out and i was like Oh my gosh what did i do i was like what the f**k is this but as it starts to heal, it starts to shape it starts to form and it starts to function
