A Nigerian man identified as Kayode Ogunbodede has reportedly died peacefully in his sleep in the United Kingdom.
According to reports, Kayode passed away on May 26, 2026, at his apartment in Swansea, Wales.
The heartbreaking news was shared through a GoFundMe appeal launched by Olatunde Owoeye-Phoster, who described the late Kayode as a calm, cheerful, and supportive family man.
“Our lives changed in ways we cannot imagine when our brother, husband and father, Kayode Ogunbodede, popularly called Kay, passed away suddenly in his sleep in the morning of Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, in Swansea, UK,” the statement read.
The appeal further described Kayode as someone who was always willing to help others and carried a warm and positive personality.
Kayode’s death has reportedly left his family facing an extremely difficult period, especially his wife, who is said to still be a student and currently not working.
He is survived by his wife and their two daughters, aged six years and six months.
“Kay has left behind a wife, who is still a student and not working, a six-year-old daughter and a six-month-old daughter. This is a very tough place to be for his wife, who is a relatively new mum,” the appeal stated.
Friends, supporters, and members of the community have since begun rallying around the grieving family to offer assistance and financial support during the difficult time.
“Everybody who has heard of this sad incident is willing to help, and this serves as a platform to organise support for one of our own,” the statement continued.
“Please let us support the family he has left behind in whatever ways we can.”
