Man Declared Dead Found Alive at Funeral Home After Staff Notice He Was Breathing
A man who had been declared dead was shockingly discovered to still be alive after funeral home staff noticed signs of breathing while preparing his body.
The 88-year-old man, identified as Juraci Rosa Alves, was admitted to a hospital on May 16 after suffering respiratory failure. Doctors reportedly pronounced him dead before his body was transferred to a funeral home for post-death procedures.

Speaking to local media, funeral home nursing supervisor Jacqueline Brogiato said:
“At first, when we realised there were vital signs, our only thought was to save him.”
She explained that emergency care was immediately provided before paramedics arrived and rushed Alves to another hospital in Presidente Prudente.
According to reports, Alves remains in intensive care in serious but stable condition.
A family member revealed that relatives had already started preparing for his funeral before receiving the shocking update that he was alive.
Police have since opened an investigation into the incident, which has reportedly been registered as a “failure to provide assistance.” Authorities have not released the identity of the doctor who initially declared him dead.
Meanwhile, the hospital involved has announced that it will conduct an internal investigation into the case
