Richard Slayman, a 62-year-old man who had been living with kidney disease, received the genetically modified pig kidney, which had undergone 69 genomic edits by experts.
Tragically, Richard passed away on Saturday, despite doctors initially reporting that he was recovering well after being discharged from the hospital on April 6th.
While there is no confirmation from the family that the kidney transplant contributed to his death, the exact cause of his passing remains unknown.
