A 27-year-old mother, Alexis Rowan, has recounted the terrifying moment she was attacked and had her throat slashed by an ex-convict during a hiking trip in Arizona.

Alexis said she was attacked by a man identified as Paya, who allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked her during the incident.

Speaking about what happened, Alexis told The Post that she could only remember the moment the knife was used on her neck.

“All I remember is the neck slice.

“I didn’t feel my hand get stabbed.

“I was like where am I bleeding from because my hand was covered in blood.”

Alexis said she was covered in blood following the attack and feared that she would not survive.

“My clothes were covered in blood … .everything was bloody.

“Once I felt my neck got sliced, I was like, that’s it.

“All I know is like this is not the way I’m going out, like this is not the way I’m ending my life”

She said her survival was also helped by a woman who reportedly opened her home to her during the attack.

“The lady was that angel sent from heaven. If it wasn’t for her God only knows/

“I had blood all over her house.”

“She saved my life. Her opening the door made this man run away, scared him away.”

Alexis’ mother, Tricia, also spoke about the attack and expressed anger over the man’s previous criminal record.

“People are evil.

“You can’t fix him. People like that deserves to never see the light of day and walk free.”

“There is no place on earth that they belong, other than behind bars like an animal in a cage because they’re predators and they prey on innocent victims.

According to online court records, Paya has a lengthy criminal history involving previous misdemeanor offences in Arizona, as well as a prison sentence.

The 29-year-old was previously sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to undergo sex offender treatment and counselling after pleading guilty in September 2016 to robbing and assaulting a woman in December 2015.

Following the latest attack, Paya was arrested on the reservation the next day and was taken into federal custody on August 17 because the incident occurred on tribal land, according to Tricia and The Post.

Tricia said she remains concerned about what could happen if he is eventually released.

“So if he comes out, what next? Someone doesn’t survive. We are just lucky that she fought back and the cameras caught the assault ” Tricia said.

A 45-year-old woman, identified as Tanisha Shelton, has been arrested in Florida after authorities accused her of setting a 33-year-old man on fire following a dispute that left him with extensive burns.

The victim, identified as Nathaniel Devon Mathis, reportedly suffered severe injuries during the incident, which occurred after an earlier confrontation between the pair.

According to the police report, the disagreement began hours before the attack when Shelton threatened to return with someone to assault Mathis.

She reportedly returned later carrying a bucket containing a plastic bag filled with an unidentified substance. During the encounter, Shelton allegedly asked a witness to lend her a lighter before pouring the substance over Mathis and setting him on fire.

A witness reportedly used pepper spray against Shelton as she attempted to leave the scene.

Emergency responders arrived at about 6 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 63rd Street and Northwest 25th Avenue, where they found Mathis unconscious and suffering from severe burns.

He was immediately transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to authorities, Mathis sustained second- and third-degree burns covering approximately 80 per cent of his body. He was reported to be in critical condition, with doctors indicating that he was not expected to survive.

Investigators were able to identify Shelton with the help of information provided by witnesses at the scene, according to the police report.

Mom Arrested 30 Years After Murdering Daughter She Tortured and Starved

Published

on

A 60-year-old woman has been arrested in Mexico after spending years evading authorities over the murder of her young daughter, Crystal Reyes, whose remains were discovered in Arizona more than a year after her death.

Crystal Reyes

Anna Marlene Somoza was taken into custody by Mexican law enforcement officers in Xochitepec, Mexico, on October 18, 2026, following an extensive search coordinated by the United States Marshals Service. Authorities are now working with the Mexican government to secure her extradition to the United States, where she is expected to face a first-degree murder charge.

According to the US Marshals Service, Somoza had remained a fugitive for more than 12 years after investigators linked her to the child’s death. Officials also said her connections to criminal networks had complicated efforts to locate her.
Investigators said Crystal endured severe abuse at the hands of her mother before her death in January 1997.

Follow our Telegram channel here

According to the US Marshals Service, the child was subjected to physical abuse, torture and starvation. She was reportedly confined inside a small dog kennel, with her hands and feet restrained and her mouth gagged for extended periods.

On January 30, 1997, Crystal was bound and suffocated with a towel taped over her face before being placed inside a sealed cardboard box and left to die, authorities said.

Tamala

The investigation into her death began months later, in November 1998, when a hunter discovered human bone fragments in a deserted area of Arizona.

However, it took years for investigators to establish the victim’s identity. In August 2014, forensic DNA testing confirmed that the remains belonged to Crystal Reyes.

Detectives subsequently interviewed Crystal’s biological father and used his DNA to confirm her identity. Investigators said the evidence provided sufficient grounds to charge Somoza and her boyfriend at the time, Avelino Tamala, with first-degree murder in December 2014.

Tamala was convicted of Crystal’s murder in 2016 and sentenced to life imprisonment. Somoza, meanwhile, remained at large.

Before Crystal’s death, Somoza had a criminal history connected to a major transnational drug-trafficking network operating along the southern Arizona border during the 1980s and 1990s, according to authorities.

Following her 1993 arrest for the sale and transportation of marijuana, Somoza agreed to work as a confidential informant for an Arizona law enforcement agency.

It was through that arrangement that she met Tamala, a narcotics detective. The US Marshals Service said the two later began “an improper romantic relationship.”

Crystal was born in Mexico in 1993. Not long after her birth, Somoza and the child began living with Tamala in Arizona, although he was not Crystal’s biological father, according to the agency.

In 1999, Somoza and Tamala were arrested on drug- and weapons-related charges. Somoza subsequently served eight years in federal prison before being deported in 2008.

Somoza

When DNA evidence connected Crystal’s remains to her identity in 2014, investigators from five state and federal agencies began searching for Somoza.

The US Marshals Service said she had “taken deliberate and extensive measures to evade detection by law enforcement while remaining at large.”

Authorities obtained an arrest warrant in October 2022 that would allow them to pursue her extradition to the United States. Despite the warrant, locating her remained a challenge.

In 2026, the search was elevated to a major case, bringing additional personnel and investigative resources into the operation, according to the agency.

By early September 2026, investigators had information indicating that Somoza was evading authorities in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The search eventually led officers to Xochitepec, where she was arrested on October 18.
The circumstances surrounding Crystal’s death have also raised questions about how prolonged child abuse can escape detection.

Stacy Vaughan, vice president of growth and prevention at Childhelp, a child abuse prevention organisation, told Fox News Digital that Crystal’s abuse may have gone unnoticed because she was not attending school.

Vaughan explained that educational institutions often play a crucial role in identifying and reporting suspected abuse.

“The majority of reports come from the education system in our country, from teachers, counselors, schools,” Vaughan told Fox News Digital.

She also pointed to changes in child-protection legislation across several US states over the past two decades, noting that reporting obligations have expanded beyond certain professional groups.

“In the past 20 years, many states have passed laws not only mandating that professionals report any suspected abuse, but…every adult over the age of 18 is considered a mandated reporter.”

Such reporting requirements are intended to help authorities identify children who may be experiencing abuse and intervene before further harm occurs.
With Somoza now in custody, attention has turned to the legal process required to return her to the United States.

Russell Lorfing, a former federal prosecutor, told Fox News Digital that the US Marshals Service would work with the Mexican government to arrange the transfer.

He said authorities had “diplomatic assurances” regarding the process, adding that the physical handover would require coordination between officials from both countries.

The extradition process could take considerably longer than a domestic arrest transfer, particularly if Somoza challenges the proceedings in court.

Lorfing explained that extradition procedures within the United States can sometimes be completed in approximately 14 days, while international cases may take months or even years.

Somoza has the right to challenge her extradition under Mexico’s legal system through an amparo, a legal remedy used to protect constitutional rights.

“These amparos are a big deal in Mexico,” Lorfing said. “It hits the pause button, too. So a three-month extradition can turn into a two-year extradition.”

Until the proceedings are resolved, the timeline for Somoza’s return to the United States remains uncertain.

Her arrest marks a significant development in a case that took years of forensic work and international cooperation to advance. Crystal’s remains were identified nearly two decades after her death, and authorities continued searching for Somoza long after Tamala’s conviction.

The extradition process will determine when Somoza can be brought before a US court to answer the murder charge.

FBI Releases Documents and Photos of Hunter Biden After He Threatened a Sex Worker Over Unpaid Money

Published

on

Newly released federal documents have shed light on an allegation that Hunter Biden, the son of former US President Joe Biden, sent a threatening text message to a Los Angeles-based sex worker in December 2020, claiming he knew her location and that a laptop had recorded their intimate encounter.

Follow our Whatsapp channel here

According to an FBI affidavit, the woman contacted the bureau days after Hunter Biden publicly acknowledged that federal investigators were examining his tax affairs. She reported receiving a message that she interpreted as a threat.

The affidavit quoted the alleged message as follows: “Don’t forget that I know where you are, you have an ankle bracelet and that the laptop was recording,”

The woman also told investigators that she had “intercourse with Hunter in front of the laptop while facetiming with a third party.”

Follow our Telegram channel here

According to her account, Hunter Biden allegedly refused to pay her for the encounter and threatened to demand the return of some money. The documents did not establish precisely when the alleged threat was made.

The complaint reportedly featured in email exchanges among FBI employees in December 2020, approximately one month after Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in that year’s presidential election.

The affidavit stated: “The financial transaction noted in the complaint was verified by the investigative team,”

The material came to light through an unrelated criminal complaint against two former senior FBI officials that was unsealed on Friday.

One of the officials named in the case is Nikki Floris, who allegedly misrepresented to Congress what she knew about federal investigations involving Hunter Biden while serving on the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force.

During testimony before the House Judiciary Committee in 2023, Floris reportedly denied discussing investigations into Hunter Biden with other bureau personnel.

“I personally did not have any conversations,” Floris said.

However, emails included in the affidavit appear to show that she had received information concerning the December 2020 complaint involving the Los Angeles woman.

In one message to another FBI employee, Floris reportedly wrote, “Per our chat last week,” while forwarding information that another bureau employee had shared about the complaint.

The allegations surrounding Floris form part of the separate case against the former FBI officials. The documents do not, by themselves, establish the outcome of those allegations.
Hunter Biden has repeatedly challenged the authenticity of emails and photographs recovered from a laptop attributed to him. FBI agents and federal prosecutors, however, have testified in court to the reliability of evidence obtained from the device.

The laptop’s contents reportedly included tens of thousands of emails, thousands of photographs and numerous videos and other recordings. Some of the material depicted Hunter Biden in intimate situations involving strippers and prostitutes.

The documents also revisited earlier scrutiny of his relationships with women and his spending on sexual encounters. Federal investigators previously considered whether conduct involving women who travelled across state lines to engage in sex with him could warrant charges under the Mann Act, although those charges were not ultimately brought.

Instead, Hunter Biden faced federal tax and gun-related charges in 2023.
Hunter Biden’s legal troubles included a federal gun case stemming from his possession of a firearm while addicted to crack cocaine. In June 2024, a federal jury found him guilty of the charges.

He also pleaded guilty to federal tax offences in September 2024 after failing to pay approximately $1.4 million in taxes, according to the case’s reported details.

In December 2024, President Joe Biden granted his son a presidential pardon, covering federal offences committed or potentially committed during the period specified in the pardon. The decision came shortly before Joe Biden left office and Donald Trump began his second presidential term in January 2025.

The victims were among 11 residents abducted from the community in Kachia Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna on April 20, 2026. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦300 million and 23 motorcycles for their release.

According to reports, the abductors rejected an offer of several million naira from the rural community and threatened to deny the captives food until their demands were met.

One of the 11 victims later escaped, while the remaining captives continued to endure the conditions in the kidnappers’ camp.

Journalist Reuben Buhari announced the deaths in a Facebook post, revealing that several members of the abducted families had died from illness and starvation.

Among the victims was a woman identified as Joy Samuel, who reportedly died on August 28 after giving birth while in captivity. Her newborn baby also died.

Joy’s 14-year-old daughter, who was abducted alongside her, later died after reportedly becoming critically ill. Her three-year-old daughter, Silvia, has also died, according to Buhari.

Another victim, 34-year-old Yusuf Bawa, and his five-year-old son reportedly died from sickness and severe hunger while being held captive.

Despite negotiations, the kidnappers have reportedly reduced their ransom demand to ₦9 million and four motorcycles for the release of the surviving captives. They also acknowledged that the remaining victims were in extremely poor condition because of illness and starvation.

According to Buhari, only two of the original 11 abductees remain alive after one person escaped and eight others died.

In his Facebook post, the journalist wrote:

“Heartbreaking news: The little girl in the first picture, who had been held captive for more than five months by kidnappers, has passed away, joining her 14-year-old sister. Their mother had passed away earlier in the kidnappers’ camp after giving birth to a child who also died,”

He continued:

“Recall that 11 people were kidnapped on April 20th from Awon village in Kachia LGA; one person later escaped. Eight of the victims have now passed, leaving only two people alive who have spent 185 days in captivity as of today — six months.

“The bandit kingpin known as Yellow One Million, who controls all kidnapping activities and owns all the kidnappers’ camps in Kachia and part of Kajuru, personally confirmed to a recent female escapee that he has unalived them.

“These pictures are of five of the eight who have passed away in the kidnapper’s camp.”

6 Massachusetts Residents Arrested for Arranging Fake Marriages to Help Immigrants Obtain Legal Status

Published

on

Six people in Massachusetts have been arrested and charged in connection with a marriage fraud scheme in which US citizens were reportedly paid to marry immigrants seeking to obtain legal immigration status.

Follow our Whatsapp channel here

The arrests took place on the morning of October 21, 2026, following an investigation into an operation that authorities say had been running for more than a decade and generated substantial amounts of money.

Follow our Telegram channel here

The defendants have been identified as Jennifer Gonzalez, 43; Erica Daniels, 29; Chreise Alejandro, 39; Amara Pugh, 31; Jessica Tavares, 31; and Jaylin Hill, 26.

According to court documents, Gonzalez operated a business that arranged sham marriages for immigrants who paid her to help them obtain legal status in the United States.

Prosecutors say Gonzalez paid Daniels, Alejandro, Tavares and Hill, all US citizens, to marry immigrants so the individuals could submit fraudulent documents to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Pugh, also a US citizen, allegedly worked as the business’s secretary.

Authorities say the operation typically arranged between 18 and 20 fraudulent marriages annually, charging customers between $38,000 and $40,000 for each arrangement. Court documents further state that Gonzalez earned hundreds of thousands of dollars annually from the operation over at least 10 years.

Investigators also claim that Gonzalez instructed customers on how to make the marriages appear genuine. This reportedly included opening joint bank accounts, obtaining life insurance policies and taking photographs together as couples.

She allegedly told customers that preparing the necessary documentation would take three to four months and required them to sign contracts for her services.

According to court documents, investigators recorded Gonzalez discussing the arrangements with a cooperating witness. In one recording, she allegedly accepted a $3,000 cash deposit and directed the preparation of a contract disguised as a loan agreement.

Gonzalez reportedly explained that the document avoided mentioning the intended spouse because doing so would be “incriminating.” Customers also allegedly made recurring payments of $500 per month to their assigned spouses or people close to them to maintain the arrangements.

Authorities further claim that photographs taken at weddings and social outings were used to support fraudulent immigration applications.

During the investigation, Gonzalez allegedly told a cooperating witness that she invested proceeds from the business in real estate and other businesses in the Dominican Republic.

Court documents also state that several defendants submitted false information on Massachusetts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit applications by claiming they had never been married, despite filing federal immigration petitions on behalf of their purported spouses.

Gonzalez is also accused of spending more than $120,000 in SNAP benefits while operating the marriage fraud business and purchasing property in the Dominican Republic.

The case has drawn attention to the alleged scale of the operation and the methods investigators say were used to make the marriages appear legitimate.

Jaylin Hill is currently serving a state prison sentence for a firearms offence. Initial court appearances for the defendants were scheduled for October 21, with Hill’s hearing set for 12:45 p.m., Daniels and Pugh at 2 p.m., Alejandro and Tavares at 2:45 p.m., and Gonzalez at 3:15 p.m.

The charges include conspiracy and offences relating to harboring immigrants, as well as marriage fraud and conspiracy to commit marriage fraud.

If convicted, the defendants could face up to 10 years in prison for certain immigration-related charges and up to five years for marriage fraud charges, along with possible fines of up to $250,000 for each applicable offence.

The case was announced by US Attorney Leah B. Foley, Homeland Security Investigations officials in New England and representatives of US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Several federal agencies assisted with the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
