The Nigerian Economy Has Turned Men Into Something Else, the Economy Is Affecting Relationships – Lady Laments Being Single for 4 Years

A Nigerian woman has shared her perspective on how the country’s economic situation is affecting relationships, saying the financial challenges many people are facing have changed the way some men approach dating.

In a video shared on X, the woman revealed that she has been single for the past four years despite receiving attention from men.

According to her, most of the men who approach her are either married or significantly older, a situation she said has left her wondering why she has been unable to find a suitable partner.

She explained that she once questioned whether something was wrong with her and even sought spiritual guidance through prayers before concluding that the issue was not personal.

The woman said she now believes that the country’s economic hardship has had a noticeable impact on relationships, with many people focusing more on survival than long-term commitment.

She said:

“I’ve been single for 4 good years now. I won’t say men don’t approach me, but the type of men that approach me are people’s husbands. Married men, older men.

“And I’m like what’s going on. I’m just in my twenties. Later I figured out that nothings wrong with me cause at some point I went for prayers. I’ve now noticed that a lot of men are going through a lot. This economy has turned men into something else. Nobody has time.

“Even the young ones that are coming to me, they’re like see let’s just do business. Nobody wants to be committed again. Some men have even turned to Agege. There’s this guy I know he looks completely normal but this guy’s pure Agege. The economy is really messing up with people. It takes the grace of God to see a good man no”
