Sulvinder, the former wife of TV personality and doctor Ranj Singh, has spoken candidly about the emotional toll their divorce took on her after the end of their seven-year marriage.

Her comments come after Dr Ranj previously shared his own experiences following the breakdown of the marriage, revealing that he found comfort after embracing his identity as a gay man and becoming part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Reflecting on her own journey, Sulvinder said it took years for her to recover emotionally from the separation. She revealed that she struggled with feelings of inadequacy, shame, and self-doubt in the aftermath of the divorce.

Speaking about how her life had unfolded differently from what she had envisioned, she said:

“I thought my life would go as planned… Work hard. Get a degree. Get a job. Find a partner. Get married. Have kids. Instead I had a messy and painful divorce.”

She continued:

“I could not trust anyone. I did not trust myself. I believed I wouldn’t be a good mum, I’m not good at relationships, I did not deserve any happiness.”

“I accepted that I would only be an aunt. That having children was not my future.”

Sulvinder also revealed that during this difficult period, her sister was diagnosed with cancer, an experience that shifted her focus and priorities.

Speaking about supporting her sister through the illness, she said:

“She became my priority……..And I witnessed true bravery. Love shows up in different forms. Family is my everything.”

She added a message of encouragement to others facing challenges in life:

“So don’t let the past dictate your future. Everyday is a choice. YOU get to choose what your story is going to be… no one else.”

The discussion gained further attention when Sulvinder responded to a social media user who criticized Dr Ranj for continuing to speak publicly about the circumstances surrounding their split.

The follower commented:

“What does Dr Ranj hope to achieve from continuing to tell this story? Fame? Money? Attention?”

“It must be incredibly frustrating and embarrassing for this lady, as not only has he ruined her life – He seems to be profiting from her misfortune. He’s getting a pat on the back for being brave… whilst she still seems to be piecing her life back together.”
