South Korean Actor Park Dong-bin Found Dead at 54

Popular South Korean actor Park Dong-bin has been found dead at the age of 54.

According to reports, his lifeless body was discovered at his restaurant in Pyeongtaek, a business he had been preparing to open. The discovery was made on April 29 by an acquaintance who had been assisting him with the project.

Officials from the Pyeongtaek Police Station stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play, and no suicide note was found. The exact cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.

Park is survived by his wife of six years and their three-year-old daughter, Jiyu, who has been battling a serious congenital heart condition since birth.

In a 2024 interview, the actor had spoken emotionally about his daughter’s health, saying:
“She has left heart hypoplastic syndrome, where the left ventricle and aorta are underdeveloped. Without a heart transplant or surgeries, she could die”

Jiyu underwent her first surgery just four days after birth and later had two additional procedures.

In the same interview, Park also opened up about the challenges of being an older father. He shared concerns about his ability to provide long-term support for his family and revealed that people sometimes mistook him for his daughter’s grandfather.

He said: “I’m a 54-year-old father, and I’m worried about whether I can take responsibility for my family until the end,”

His wake is scheduled to be held at Domin Funeral Hall in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province. His remains will later pass through the Yongin Forest of Peace before being laid to rest at Woosung Memoria.
