A young football enthusiast and social media influencer, María Caamaño, has sadly passed away at the age of 13 following a battle with cancer.
Her death was announced on her Instagram page on April 16 in a heartfelt message that read:
“She fought so hard, right up until the very last second, to keep going.
“But some things are beyond our control. Since this morning, M4RÍA is now at rest.”

Before her passing, María had become known for her passion for football and her unique way of styling her name as “M4RÍA,” inspired by the number she wore when she joined a team at just four years old.
She continued to play the sport she loved until she was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that primarily affects children and young people.

A devoted supporter of Atlético Madrid, María’s love for the game remained evident throughout her journey.
In recognition of her passion and inspiring spirit, she was invited to the 2023–24 MARCA Football Awards, where she spent a memorable day alongside some of LaLiga’s top players.
