Couple rushes into underground shelter with pets as severe storm and possible tornado sweep through Ponca City

Severe overnight weather has caused damage across Ponca City, leaving homes, power lines, and surrounding areas affected by the destructive conditions.

Residents reported widespread debris scattered throughout the community following the intense storm system, which moved through the area late Saturday.

Amid the chaos, a local couple, Shari and Dwain, acted swiftly as conditions worsened. According to their account, they quickly gathered their pets and took shelter in their underground basement just moments before the storm intensified.

Their prompt response is believed to have helped them avoid harm as the severe weather passed through.

Authorities confirmed that, despite the extent of the damage, no injuries have been reported.

A tornado warning had been issued overnight as a precaution; however, it has not yet been confirmed whether a tornado actually touched down.
