They poured ac!d on me and robbed me- Lady Cries Out After Ac!d Attack and Robbery in Lokoja
A young woman identified as Bisi has shared her heartbreaking story of survival after being robbed and attacked with acid while returning from work in Lokoja, Kogi State.
In an interview with Mr. Laliga, Bisi explained that she was both working and studying at the Federal University, Lokoja, in December 2024, when the incident occurred. She said she had taken up work during the university break to support herself and her parents.
According to her, the attack happened around 6:30 p.m. after she boarded a keke (tricycle) with two men inside.
“I was coming fro work around 6:30pm, i stopped a keke that would take me home with 2 guys on the bike so they asked me in Yoruba that they are trying to ask for direction so i don’t know the place before i knew they just poured something on my face and my body….. my cloth got burnt so i took a bike to the nearest hospital around that area it was when i got there the doctor told me it was acid they poured on me ever since then, my life has changed, they evicted my eyes nose and neck” She recounted
Bisi revealed that the men robbed her, taking away her bag, and although she saw their faces, she did not know them personally.
Describing the immediate pain, she said: “My face and body were burning. I couldn’t touch my face; I was just scared because the acid was so hot and it was immediately i felt it”
Despite the trauma, Bisi remains determined to continue her education. When asked if she wanted to return to school, she replied:
“I want to go back to school and graduate.”
So far, she has undergone two surgeries and still requires three to four more to repair the severe damage to her left eye, nose, mouth, and leg.a
