A woman named Lydia has shared her heartbreaking story, detailing how her husband contracted HIV and how she faced accusations and blame as a result.
In an interview with Afrimax, Lydia opened up about her challenging life journey. She revealed that her father denied her and her three sisters at birth simply because they were all girls. Feeling rejected, their father abandoned them, leaving their mother to struggle to raise the children alone.
During this difficult period, her mother met a man named Muiriri, who helped care for Lydia and her siblings. However, he sadly passed away in 2017.
Lydia also reflected on her relationship with her mother, saying that while she loved her deeply, she often felt mistreated by her.
How her mother used to chase men away from her, she said: “Very beautiful men used to come i mean young men used to come to our place and when they come my mother could come and chase them abuse them just like that and i would be beaten later so when i was changed from government school to private school thats where i got a man called gicuke and that man loved me and i got married and when i got married it was because of the abuse of my mother and still even if she used to abuse me i was still a virgin.
She also noted that during this times, she became pregnant while her mother thought she was in school.
“But when i got pregnant there was no way I just decided to give in after that, my mother decided to chase me away from embu because i was transferred from kangaru and i was taken to Embu to stay with my elder sister then she said you are harrot come back home and stay at home when i went back home i was already pregnant so one day i decided even i have the keys of the man because now i didnt have choice, i decided to go to check for him whether he would accept the pregnancy or not when i went i heard they have gone a place called Kangaro there was a football anf they had taken the students there I opened the door i cooked, i was with my siblings the last born and second last. When i went back home , i was beaten to an extent i had wounds even when i went to my husband I had wounds in my shoulder and back and when i went there i didn’t go with my bag and i went to put my bag under a tree but urban there are witches so nobody could pick it i left it there and i went to the house to cook for my dear he asked me where are the clothes then i told him i don’t have clothes you will buy for me and then he said okay but you know we are not paid the salary and i told him i would wear your trouser and shirt and he said it is ok just feel at home and then i said oh the man has accepted and i told him let’s go and pick my bag where i left.
How she found out her husband is HIV/AIDS Positive, she added: “I got married now, we continued with our life i had first child, second child, third child, fourth child and fifth born and the time of fifth born, he was very sick and he was at Mombasa. God spoke to me that time and that time God used to speak to me through lighting in the wall and i was praying, he wrote HIV/AIDS and i asked God what is this and God spoke me me very clear that your husband is HIV Positive I started praying and praying I didn’t know how to go about it, i didn’t know who i would tell because at that time nobody could want to hear about HIV that was 1995 nobody could want to hear about HIV and I decided to keep quiet with my problem and one day when were in the garden, i saw him coming and i was shocked and asked God what am i going to do he has come……… he is HIV Positive what am i going to do God spoke to me very clear with a clear sound that you will never die because of AIDS don’t refuse him that is now how we stayed together.
“But it was so painful to open up to a man you know the man is Positive and you are Negative and you have to serve him you have to give him his purpose as a woman it was so painful to me It wounded me so much.
Facing rejections, she said: “He got sick completely that i used to go a place called Olobolsat even the relatives did not even help me at all brothers and sisters they didnt help me my mother they had my sister who was sick my parents but the other family nobody stood the gap and then it was just only one man who used to take him to the hospital but i used to look for transport and him he would take him to the hospital and at that time he died in 1997 and now the worst stage which i went through was rejection i used to go to market and people used to say this is the woman that her husband died because of AIDS when i go to chams, fellowships, church I was rejected all over and to make the matter worst even the money which was raised the time of burial I was not given, it was given to my mother in law that i will die and my two last borns will die and the bigger ones will die because they were serving their father It was so painful.”

In a video shared on X, the woman explained that she normally sends money to her Access Bank account in Nigeria as a way of saving her funds.
According to her, she became concerned after noticing an issue with her account and attempted to contact her account officer, identified as Doris.

She said Doris initially did not respond to her messages, which she described as unusual, before eventually contacting her and asking whether she had withdrawn money from the account.
The woman said her account officer later accessed her account and printed her bank statement, where they reportedly noticed transactions involving N5 million.
She said: “She was giving me different excuses so suddnely she entered my account and told me to send her a email because she cannot enter my account again because they have blocked her, she logged into my account and printed the statement of my account and we saw the people that withdraw N5M from my account and their names is there their bvn, their photos are there that we can use to get them arrested and accorinding to my account officer, she said she would login into Palmpay and others that they use to in nigeria and i told her fine do it to see if we get any good reply.
“She then told me that accessbank did not do anything and she cannot do anything behind accessbank, I have emailed accessbank countless of times, I did not see their reply, I cry onto Nigerians please have mercy on me before accessbank kills me silently please have mercy on meN5m is too much to avoid for me……. Nigerians I need help, Nigeria police please i have evidnece to have these people arrested their BVN Number, picture account number is there even one of their number is on whatsapp they wiithdraw N5M from my account Nigerians please help, I cannot avoid N5M i didnt steal before I saw this money have mercy on me”
The woman is now appealing to Nigerians, the Nigeria Police Force and Access Bank to look into the matter and help establish what happened to the money.
She also claimed that she had contacted the bank several times through email but had not received the response she expected.
