A nursing student who was found dead in her apartment in Imo State has been identified as Wendy Achumba.
Wendy was reportedly discovered dead in her room on May 21, 2026, in Umulogho, located in the Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria.

Alarmed by her unusual silence, neighbours reportedly forced their way into the apartment after several unsuccessful attempts to reach her. Upon entering, they discovered her lifeless body.
Sources told Punch that the apartment door was still locked from the inside, while Wendy’s mobile phone was nowhere to be found.
Community sources revealed that the deceased hailed from Ngwa in Abia State. She had reportedly completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic nursing training at the institution before her tragic death.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, said an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
“The Command is aware of the tragic incident involving the death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her private off-campus apartment,” he said.

“Following the report, the DPO and operatives promptly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, after which the body was recovered and deposited in the morgue, while investigations have commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest those responsible.”
Police say investigations are ongoing.
