22-year-old man dies after falling into ocean during argument with friends on a boat
A video circulating on social media has captured the final moments of 22-year-old Alexander Avendaño Varela before he fell into a reservoir during a boat outing with friends in Colombia.
According to reports, the incident occurred on May 24 at the Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir in Guatapé, one of Colombia’s most popular tourist attractions.
Footage from the scene showed a group of young people onboard a boat as an argument appeared to break out among several passengers. During the confrontation, Alexander could be seen standing on a narrow section of the deck near a damaged basin while voices were heard shouting in the background.

The video also appeared to show that several people onboard were not wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
As tensions escalated, Alexander was seen near the edge of the vessel. Witnesses reported that he appeared cornered during the dispute. A young woman could also be seen holding a pair of jeans shortly before a physical altercation reportedly broke out involving Alexander and other partygoers.
Moments later, the visibly distressed young man went over the boat’s railing and into the water.

The incident occurred on Saturday in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State when armed men attacked two commercial buses carrying passengers. One of the buses was reportedly registered as Ebonyi NKE 737 XA.
A motorcycle rider was also said to have been abducted alongside the passengers during the attack.
According to a resident, Ahiaba Michael, security operatives, vigilantes, and local hunters launched a search operation shortly after the incident, but the kidnappers initially evaded capture.
A security source later disclosed that a suspect identified as Monday Agi was arrested less than three hours after the attack. The source claimed the suspect became stranded while trying to escape due to pressure from security personnel.
During questioning, Agi reportedly denied involvement in the kidnapping, claiming he had been travelling in a trailer from Ekiti State and got off near the scene before fleeing into the bush after hearing gunshots.
Meanwhile, three of the kidnapped victims identified as Micheal Adejo, Monday Adaji, and Mariam Yakubu said they managed to escape after noticing that some of the kidnappers had fallen asleep.
The victims alleged that the attackers, numbering about 10, were armed with AK-47 rifles and pump-action guns.
Recounting the ordeal, one of the escapees said:
“The bus I boarded suddenly ran into their barricade. On stopping, they filed us out, wielding AK-47 rifles and pump-action guns. The second bus behind us was shot at and the driver rammed into cashew trees. All of us were taken into the bush afterward.”
He added that the kidnappers forced the victims to lie face down before searching them and collecting their money, phones, and other valuables.
Another escapee, Monday Adaji, explained how they regained their freedom.
“When I noticed that the hoodlums closer to my position started sleeping, I began crawling gradually. After covering some distance, I got up and ran. Luckily, I reached a village with these two others.”
Security agencies have continued efforts to rescue the remaining victims and track down the kidnappers.
Attempts to get a response from the Kogi State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, were unsuccessful as of the time the report was filed.

Mother of two found dead in a ditch days after going missing during liposuction procedure at a clinic

Blanca Adriana Vázquez Montiel’s body was discovered in a ditch in Altzayanca, Mexico, on May 21, three days after she was reported missing.
According to reports, Blanca visited Detox Clínica for a liposuction procedure and skin-lightening treatment. She reportedly paid 14,000 Mexican pesos for the liposuction and an additional 3,000 pesos for the cosmetic treatment.
It was alleged that clinic staff persuaded her to undergo the procedure on the same day she arrived.

About an hour into the operation, staff allegedly instructed Blanca’s husband to leave the clinic to purchase a compression garment, bandages and medication. However, when he returned, he found the clinic closed and his wife nowhere to be seen.
Alarmed by the situation, he immediately contacted authorities.
Investigators later reviewed CCTV footage that allegedly showed three clinic workers carrying Blanca’s limp body out of the facility and placing it in the trunk of a vehicle shortly after her husband had been sent away.
The suspects have been identified as Diana Alejandra Palafox Romero, the alleged practitioner and owner of Detox Clínica, her son Carlos Quezada Palafox, and a female assistant. Authorities say all three suspects remain on the run.
Reports further revealed that Palafox Romero does not possess a registered medical licence and is accused of falsely presenting herself as a doctor. She is currently being investigated on allegations including homicide and impersonating a medical professional.
The clinic reportedly offered a range of cosmetic procedures, including Botox treatments, lip fillers, vaginal tightening, hormone pellet therapy, arm liposuction, endolift procedures and so-called “salmon sperm” facials. Its promotional social media pages have since been removed.
Blanca’s remains are expected to be returned to her hometown of Huauchinango for burial.
Speaking through tears, her mother, Bárbara Montiel, called for justice.
“She also had children who are suffering, and I know that sooner or later they will pay for everything they did to my girl,” she said.

Federal High Court Judge Nasir Yunusa Di£s After Collapsing at Home in Kano
Justice Nasir Yunusa of the Federal High Court, Kano Division, has passed away after reportedly collapsing at his residence.
According to reports, the respected judge slumped in his living room on Thursday evening and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors later confirmed his death.
Sources within the Federal High Court told Daily Trust that Justice Yunusa was buried on Friday in accordance with Islamic rites.
“Yes, the judge died Thursday evening and he has been buried. He was very hardworking during his lifetime. You know he handled many high-profile cases and dispensed justice accordingly,” the source said.
Before his death, Justice Yunusa gained national prominence for presiding over several politically sensitive cases that attracted widespread public attention following Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.
One of the notable cases involved the candidature of Alex Otti, the Governor-elect of Abia State at the time.
Following reports that the Federal High Court in Kano had nullified Otti’s candidature alongside those of Labour Party candidates across the country, Justice Yunusa clarified that the candidates who participated in the Abia elections were not parties to the suit before his court.
He ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to issue orders relating to certificates of return for candidates who were not directly involved in the matter.
During the proceedings, he stated:
“This court lacks jurisdiction to make an order for the issuance of certificate of return. They are at liberty to seek redress in the appropriate Division of the court.”
The suit had been filed by Ibrahim Haruna-Ibrahim, who sought the revocation of certificates of return issued to Labour Party candidates declared winners in Kano, the Federal Capital Territory, and 35 other states. The defendants in the case were the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
News of Justice Yunusa’s passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from members of the legal community, colleagues, and members of the public, many of whom have remembered him as a committed judge who dedicated his career to the fair administration of justice.
