DSS Petitions Omoyele Sowore, Demands X Take Down His Account Within 24 Hours

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a petition to Elon Musk, Chairman and CEO of X (formerly Twitter), over a tweet made by activist Omoyele Sowore.

In the petition, dated September 6, 2025, and addressed to X Corp.’s headquarters in Bastrop County, Texas, USA, the DSS accused Sowore of publishing a tweet that disparaged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The agency described the post as “ridiculous” and claimed it could fuel political tension and pose a threat to Nigeria’s national security.
This comes after Sowore tweeted against President Tinubu saying: “This criminal @officialABAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

The petition reads “The Chairman and CEO X Corp. Bastrop County, Texas USA Email: [email protected]

“Those words were personally directed at Mr. President through his official communication channel @officialABAT which is the known X handle of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The said tweet is herewith attached and will be referenced on herein for emphasis and necessary action.

“The said tweet is still in circulation and has attracted widespread condemnation by majority of Nigerians, some of whom may resort to unwholesome activities to vent their grievance over it, especially supporters of the President who have started taking to the streets in protest, thereby creating political tension and threatening the country’s national security. This is in addition to the disparaging effect the tweet has on the reputation of Mr. President and the country before the comity of nations.

The Law also makes the offender and the medium through which the offence is perpetrated/propagated culpable and criminally liable too. The author and purveyor of the inflammatory online publication against Mr. President is very much aware that the publication is also prohibited by Section 2(3) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is against the above highlighted backdrop that we make an immediate and urgent demand on your Corporation to as a matter of its own policy, immediately TAKE DOWN the tweet and its attendant re-tweets.

This demand is unequivocal with its attendant consequence. Should you fail, neglect and refuse to comply with the command in this notice, the Federal Government will be compelled to take far-reaching, sweeping and across-the-board measures through our Organization, whose mandate covers such criminal acts.

In the light of the above having been made official to you, 24 hours is sufficient enough to take necessary action.

Pregnant woman sentenced to life without parole for killing mother of five who was pregnant for her boyfriend

A pregnant woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after being convicted of the fatal shooting of another pregnant woman in Birmingham, Alabama.

Aaniyah Nowden was found guilty of capital murder in connection with the death of 38-year-old Justina Wallace, a mother of five, who was also pregnant at the time of the incident.

Aaniyah

According to AOL reports, the shooting occurred on July 7, 2023. Both Nowden and Wallace were reportedly expecting children by the same man when the tragedy unfolded.

Nowden was convicted in a Jefferson County, Alabama court and received a life sentence without parole last week.

Authorities said Wallace’s unborn child did not survive the shooting.

Reports indicate that on the day of the incident, Nowden went to Wallace’s home, where an argument broke out involving Wallace, Nowden, and the children’s father.

During the trial, Nowden claimed she acted in self-defense. However, prosecutors argued that Wallace was unarmed and posed no threat at the time she was shot.

The court also heard that two of Wallace’s children were nearby when the shooting occurred.

According to reports, the incident was captured on cellphone video and later presented as evidence during the case.

Deputy District Attorney Jason Wilson said: “This defendant shot and killed a pregnant woman who was carrying nothing but her baby… in her arms.

“Justina had no weapon, no gun, she wasn’t attacking anybody.”

Nowden was initially charged with three counts of capital murder. However, the jury dismissed two of those charges before ultimately finding her guilty on one count of capital murder.

Boyfriend arrested after stabbing his girlfriend, their newborn baby, and grandmother

A heartbreaking tragedy has left a family shattered after a young mother, her two-week-old baby, and her mother were fatally stabbed in their home.

The victims were identified as Fabiola Gonzalez-Nunez, 23, her newborn son Mateo Gonzalez, and her mother, Nunez-Villalobos, 54.

According to reports, police officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 9:20 a.m. and discovered Gonzalez-Nunez suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Officers also found the infant and Nunez-Villalobos with serious stab injuries inside the residence, along with an unharmed three-year-old child.

Authorities said both Gonzalez-Nunez and Nunez-Villalobos were pronounced dead at the scene. Baby Mateo was rushed to a hospital for treatment but sadly died later that day on May 28.

The three-year-old child was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being placed in the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS).

Investigators believe the toddler is the child of Gonzalez-Nunez and the suspect, identified as Joaquin Escoto, who is also believed to be the father of baby Mateo.

According to Modesto Police, officers quickly located and arrested Escoto on the day of the incident. He was reportedly found hiding inside a nearby residence.

Escoto was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on three counts of murder, special-circumstance enhancements, and use of a deadly weapon. He also faces an outstanding warrant connected to a previous DUI case.

Police said investigators believe Escoto and the victims lived together in the home where the fatal stabbings occurred.

Authorities further stated that Escoto is believed to have been “involved in a relationship with Fabiola Gonzalez-Nunez, although the exact nature of their relationship remains under investigation.”

Sikh man sentenced to 21 years in prison for stabbing 18-year-old boy after falsely accusing him of racism

The family of 18-year-old Henry Nowak has called for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death after he was fatally stabbed and subsequently handcuffed by police following allegations that were later rejected in court.

Bodycam footage released after the incident showed Henry repeatedly pleading for help and telling officers, “I can’t breathe,” after suffering multiple stab wounds.

According to reports, Henry was stabbed six times by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa during an incident in Southampton city centre last December. Despite his injuries, Henry was initially treated as a suspect after Digwa allegedly told officers that the teenager had racially abused him, assaulted him, and removed his turban.

The footage reportedly captured Henry telling officers, “I’ve been stabbed,” only for one officer to respond, “I don’t think you have, mate.”

As he lay seriously injured, Henry repeatedly begged officers to call an ambulance. He was also heard saying he could not breathe several times while being restrained and handcuffed.

Henry later died from his injuries.

The footage further showed Digwa telling officers that Henry had not been stabbed. A female officer responded, “I know, but we have to check, don’t we.”

During the trial, the court heard evidence that contradicted Digwa’s claims. Judge William Mousley KC stated he was “sure” that Henry had not made any racist remarks.

The judge told the defendant: “I am sure that Henry said nothing racist.

The knife Vickrum used to murder Henry that night

“You are the only person to make that claim and it is completely at odds with his previous character.

“You have brought shame upon your family and your religion.

“Your actions have stirred up racial tension in Southampton and across the country which have made many Sikhs worried about their safety.”

Digwa was later convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years after a jury found that he had aggressively pursued Henry before stabbing him multiple times.

Following the sentencing, Henry’s family expressed their heartbreak over how he was treated in his final moments.

Henry handcuffed by the police while pleading for help after being stabbed

His father, Mark Nowak, said: “Let me be absolutely clear – we hold Vickrum Digwa solely and 100 per cent responsible for the brutal murder of our son.

“But Henry should not have died on the streets of Southampton in police custody. The way he was treated was inhumane and degrading.

“His murderer, however, was afforded decency. He was believed. He was not handcuffed when arrested. He was not handcuffed when transported to the police station. As far as we understand, he was never handcuffed at all.

“And, as Vickrum Digwa himself told the court, while under arrest for Henry’s murder, police even took him to the kitchen so he could choose his food. The contrast is unbearable.”

Fighting back tears outside court, Mr Nowak paid tribute to his son, saying: “I want Henry to know wherever he is we are so proud of him and we love him beyond words.”

Prosecutor Mr Lobbenberg also criticized the events that followed the stabbing, telling the sentencing hearing: “Henry Nowak dying alone, humiliated and handcuffed was a direct consequence of Vickrum Digwa’s dishonesty.

“Vickrum Digwa chose on two occasions to make videos, first of Henry fleeing and then of Henry dying with close-ups of his face. The Crown says that is both intrusive and humiliating.

“His defence describing Henry as a violent drunk racist aggressor compounds the grief of the family.”

Following the conviction, Hampshire Police issued an apology to Henry Nowak’s family for handcuffing the critically injured teenager during the incident.

His family continues to call for a “full, fearless and transparent” investigation into the police handling of the case.

Six foreign-owned shops looted in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

A video circulating on social media has captured the aftermath of a looting incident involving shops owned by foreign nationals in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands region of South Africa.

The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of May 29, 2026, and has sparked widespread discussion online.

Confirming the development, provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda said that six shops belonging to foreign nationals were looted during the unrest.

According to Netshiunda, calm has since been restored in the area, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

“Police are assessing the situation for further investigations and police visibility will be maintained in the area,” he said.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation while carrying out investigations into the looting.

Reports indicate that the incident may have been linked to growing tensions surrounding a directive issued by Mayor Mduduzi Myeza, who had reportedly given undocumented foreign national business owners a 21-day deadline to leave the town.

The deadline was scheduled to expire on May 27, 2026.

However, a group of affected business owners reportedly challenged the directive in court on May 26, seeking legal intervention before the deadline elapsed.

Netshiunda also revealed that a meeting was scheduled for Friday afternoon involving the mayor’s office, police officials, and the owners of the building where the affected shops are located.

The meeting is expected to focus on addressing tensions between local residents, foreign business owners, and government authorities, while exploring ways to restore stability and prevent further incidents.
