Edo-based pastor Caleb Adavize Phili has recounted his traumatic experience after regaining freedom from kidnappers who allegedly demanded N50 million for the release of him and his family members.

The pastor took to social media to share photos of himself, his mother, and his sister receiving medical attention following their release.

According to him, the kidnappers held them for several days and subjected them to harsh conditions while negotiations for their freedom were ongoing.

Phili said they endured physical and emotional suffering, including long treks through difficult terrain, insect bites, exposure to harsh weather conditions, and constant threats to their lives.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he described kidnapping as one of the worst experiences anyone could face.

He wrote:

“I can’t forget this in a hurry, how we were kidnapped, myself, wife and sis for days and they were demanding for 50 million naira.

“The worst prayer you could pray for your enemies is for them to be kidnapped, yes, that’s the highest.

“The psychological trauma, the fear, the torture, rain, sun, insect bites, the trekking, the threat to life with ammunition, the huge amount being paid and many more. Lord save our nation. Thank you Jesus for our life.”

Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland has been sued by an Uber driver who alleges he was threatened and assaulted during a ride earlier this year.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the driver, Rafael Manvelyan, 24, claims the incident occurred on January 12 when he picked up the actor.

Manvelyan alleged that Sutherland appeared intoxicated during the ride and became increasingly aggressive after communication difficulties arose due to language barriers.

He stated that the actor, who he claims speaks limited English and is more fluent in Russian and Armenian, became “hostile, aggressive, and confrontational” during the trip.

In the lawsuit, the driver alleged that Sutherland verbally abused him and later physically attacked him while he was driving.

He further claimed that the actor repeatedly struck him “with closed fists” on the head, face, neck, and upper body, and later placed him in a chokehold while threatening to k!ll him.

According to Manvelyan, he managed to escape the vehicle and ran away, but the actor allegedly chased him while shouting, “I’m going to k!ll you.”

The driver also stated that his dashcam captured parts of the alleged assault, and that witnesses observed portions of the incident.

Following the confrontation, Manvelyan reported injuries to his head, face, neck, spine, and shoulder. Responding officers reportedly observed visible bruising and swelling on his forehead.

His attorney, Mitra Sabouri, told TMZ:

“Mr. Manvelyan is a private citizen who did not seek public attention. He filed this action to pursue legal remedies for the injuries and damages he alleges he suffered.

Out of respect for his privacy, we are not releasing the dashcam footage, and we will allow the facts and evidence to be addressed through the court process.”

The driver is suing for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence, and is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

“You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch – so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me.

“I also do this early-morning circuit class from the brilliant Steve Hensel at Blue Zone. I’ll go at 6.30am and do a full hour, it’s a proper old-school gym.”

A man identified as José Olímpio has lost part of his finger after being bitten by a large lizard while attempting to give the animal water.

According to reports, the incident occurred on May 9. Footage from the scene showed the lizard hiding among leaves as Olímpio directed water toward it.

However, moments later, the reptile suddenly lunged at him and clamped its jaws onto his hand.

The bite reportedly caused severe injuries, prompting his transfer to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Doctors treated his injuries on the same day, but due to the extent of the damage, part of one of his fingers had to be amputated during surgery.

The reptile involved in the incident was identified as a black-and-white tegu, scientifically known as Salvator merianae, which is regarded as the largest lizard species in Brazil.

The species can grow to around 50 centimeters (20 inches) in body length, while some individuals can reach up to 2 meters (7 feet) when their tails are included.

Black-and-white tegus are omnivorous and feed on a wide variety of foods, including carrion, insects, birds, rodents, amphibians, eggs, fruits, leaves, and other reptiles.

A tragic incident in Kentucky has claimed the lives of two young women and a 21-year-old man following what authorities described as a domestic violence-related situation.

According to investigators, 18-year-old Jedance Hale and her friend, 19-year-old Lila Asher, were found dead alongside James Priddy, 21, inside a vehicle on June 6.

Reports indicate that Hale had been attempting to end her relationship with Priddy and had asked her best friend, Asher, to accompany her for support.

The incident began after concerned family members contacted authorities regarding the welfare of those involved.

Police said the trio had left a residence in Barbourville to get food when relatives became worried and alerted law enforcement.

Authorities later located a red Chevrolet Cobalt connected to the report. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it failed to pull over, leading to a pursuit into neighboring Laurel County.

The chase came to an end at approximately 10:43 p.m. on KY312 in southern Laurel County after officers attempted to box in the vehicle.

During the incident, the Chevrolet reportedly collided with another vehicle before eventually coming to a stop.

When officers approached the car, they discovered all three occupants dead inside.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, evidence gathered at the scene indicated that Priddy fatally shot Hale and Asher before taking his own life.

Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling later ruled the deaths of Hale and Asher as homicides caused by gunshot wounds.

Priddy’s death was ruled a suicide caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials said Hale was allegedly in a relationship with Priddy at the time of the incident.

Social media personality and influencer Molly-Mae and her partner Tommy Fury have welcomed their second child together, three years after the birth of their daughter, Bambi.

The couple had largely kept the pregnancy out of the public eye before Molly-Mae confirmed the news on her Instagram page last week.

A Nigerian woman has sparked discussion online after sharing an emotional video in which she spoke about her struggles and frustration with her current situation.

A mother of three, Icicléia Alves Veloso, has died after being shot during a meeting to formalize her divorce from her estranged husband in Brazil.

The tragic incident occurred on June 3 in the town of Ourilândia do Norte, where Icicléia had gone to meet her husband, Romildo Veloso e Silva, to finalize their divorce proceedings and discuss the division of their assets.

According to reports, the couple had been separated for about three months prior to the meeting.

Authorities said Silva, 69, allegedly asked the lawyer handling the divorce to leave the room so he could speak privately with Icicléia.

Shortly after the lawyer stepped out, gunshots were heard from inside the office.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Icicléia seated in a chair with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. She was still alive and was immediately rushed for medical treatment.

Silva was later found dead in a bathroom within the office. Investigators said a revolver was discovered beside his body.

Reports indicate that Icicléia was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to another medical facility due to the severity of her injuries.

Despite efforts to save her life, her condition deteriorated, and she remained in a deep coma. On June 4, doctors declared her brain dead as a result of a traumatic brain injury.

She was later laid to rest in Ourilândia do Norte.

Authorities believe Silva shot his estranged wife before taking his own life.

Before the incident, Silva was known in the community as a surgeon, councillor, and former mayor of Ourilândia do Norte.

Icicléia and Silva shared three sons together.

A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to explain why she decided to end her marriage, claiming that ongoing disagreements over finances eventually pushed her to walk away from the relationship.

In a video shared online, the woman said she had been married to her husband for four years and that they have two children together, with their youngest child being about 12 months old.

According to her, she and her husband had always shared household expenses equally since relocating to the United Kingdom.

However, she said problems arose when her husband discovered that her employer had paid her approximately £4,000 in accumulated wages that were reportedly released annually.

She alleged that after learning about the payment, her husband requested a larger contribution from her in addition to the arrangement they already had in place.

Recounting her experience, she said:

“I left my husband i have been with for 4 years now and yeah I am back to the streets we have two children, the last one is about 12months ….. I left him because since we came to the UK.. I am talking i left him last week…….. since we came to the UK he has been wanting 50/50 and yes we are doing the 50/50

“So something happened, our company paid like wages that they were holding us for like a year every year they pay us this little amount of money ….. so he got to find out and said yes we are doing 50/50 but since you not have like £4,000 with you, you should bring £2,000 for the month or £3,000 ….. then i asked him we have been doing 50/50 together still you still have eyes in my little money you still want to take it and he was like i brought you to the country If i didn’t bring you, you would have been in Nigeria by now receiving what people are receiving, you would have been in Nigeria suffering and you know what I told him that I am done …… I can no longer do this with him sharing 50/50 still wanting to have my own still wanting to keep my own money and then when i talk he would say i am Nagging because he brought me from nigeria”

The woman said she ultimately decided to leave the marriage because she felt unhappy with the situation and believed the relationship had become unhealthy for her.

She also advised other women living in the UK to be cautious when discussing their finances with their partners, particularly if they earn more money.
