Losing my Virginity at age 43 made me very confident of myself

Melanie Hawkes, a physically disabled woman, has shared how losing her virginity has boosted her self-confidence.

The 43-year-old was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord, when she was a toddler.

In an interview with Femail, Melanie revealed that she lost her virginity to a male escort, an experience that significantly enhanced her confidence. She also mentioned that she is currently dating and is eager to meet more suitors.

In an interview with Femail, Melanie Hawkes shared, “I never thought I’d ever have s**x in my life. I never thought anyone would want me or think I’m sexy. I was always curious about other people’s s**x lives and would ask my support workers about it, but I just didn’t think it was an option for me. In high school, the thought of romance or boys never crossed my mind.”

Reflecting on her experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, she said, “COVID wasn’t half as bad as I thought it would be—so when I recovered, I said to myself, ‘OMG! I’m going to start living life.'”

Describing a pivotal moment with a support worker, Melanie said, “She was washing my hair and then started massaging my neck, and it felt really good. No one had ever touched me like that before. I told her about it afterward.”

The support worker then asked her, “Have you ever thought about hiring a disability s**x worker?”

Reacting she said: “Is that even legal here? From there, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was so fascinated and spent all weekend Googling it.”
