Texas Man Indicted for Murder of Mother of Three Faces 16 Felony Charges Including Child Sexual Abuse and Bestiality

on

A 36-year-old Texas man, identified as Cody Allen Laviolette, is facing 16 felony charges, including murder, following the death of a 31-year-old mother of three, Kelly Taylor Mariah Little.

Laviolette was recently indicted by a grand jury over Kelly’s death and is also facing additional charges relating to separate accusations of child sexual abuse, sexual assault and bestiality.

Before her death, Kelly had reportedly been living with her three children at Laviolette’s home in Onalaska, approximately 85 miles northeast of Houston, Texas. The nature of the relationship between the pair has not been publicly established.

The tragic incident occurred on May 23, when authorities received a report that Kelly was experiencing a medical emergency and suffering seizures.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and arranged for her to be airlifted to a hospital in Conroe. However, she died the following morning.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office initially classified her death as suspicious and launched an investigation to establish what had happened.

Two months later, in July, Laviolette was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and unlawful restraint as investigators continued looking into the circumstances surrounding Kelly’s death.

As the investigation progressed, additional witnesses came forward, leading authorities to file further charges involving separate accusations and multiple victims.

The charges include continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual assault.

Laviolette is also facing assault-related charges, unlawful restraint and one count of bestiality.

According to the sheriff’s office, forensic interviews conducted during the investigation provided further evidence after a child was identified.

On October 30, Polk County detectives presented evidence relating to Kelly’s death before a grand jury. The panel subsequently returned indictments against Laviolette for murder, a first-degree felony under Texas law, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony.

Bonds were set at $500,000 for the murder charge and $50,000 for the evidence-related charge.

With the latest indictments, Laviolette now faces 16 felony charges in total, with combined bonds amounting to $5.4 million (£4.1 million).

He remains in Polk County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

Kelly, who was born in Temple, Texas, leaves behind three young children, including a daughter and two sons.

Laviolette has not been convicted of any of the offences. All the criminal charges remain allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. No plea or defence position had been publicly confirmed at the time of writing.

Deb Haaland Makes History as First Native American Woman Elected Governor of a US State

Published

Democrat Deb Haaland has made history after winning New Mexico’s gubernatorial election, becoming the first Native American woman ever elected governor of a US state.

Haaland, who previously represented New Mexico in Congress and served as Interior Secretary under former President Joe Biden, secured the victory on Tuesday, marking another milestone in her political career.

The Associated Press called the race in her favour with approximately 41 per cent of the votes counted. Unofficial figures released by the New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office showed Haaland leading with 57 per cent of the vote at 8:49 p.m., ahead of Republican candidate Gregg Hull, the former mayor of Rio Rancho.

Following the closure of polling stations at 7 p.m., Haaland gathered with supporters, fellow candidates and state Democratic Party officials at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque to follow the election results.

She contested the election alongside New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard, while Hull’s running mate was Republican state Senator David Gallegos.

Before securing the Democratic nomination, Haaland defeated Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman in the party’s June primary. Her campaign also raised significantly more money than Hull’s during the general election, with fundraising records running into thousands of pages because of the large number of individual donors. The volume of filings reportedly caused the Secretary of State’s website to crash on some occasions.

Taking the stage to celebrate her victory, Haaland thanked Hull for what she described as a respectful campaign. She also pointed to Democratic victories in New Mexico and other parts of the country, saying voters were expressing dissatisfaction with policies introduced by the Trump administration.

Drawing on her experience serving in Congress during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, Haaland promised to challenge efforts to cut Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, during her time as governor.

“I’ve stood up to Donald Trump before and I’m ready to do it again,” she said.

Haaland also reflected on her personal connection to the land where she celebrated the historic victory, particularly the Laguna Pueblo community along Route 66.

She recalled her childhood experiences carrying water from a community spigot and helping irrigate her grandfather’s cornfield. She also spoke about the painful history of Native American children being taken from their families and sent to boarding schools.

“And just off this road, my grandmother was taken away to boarding school … yet we are still here,” she said.

Her victory marks a historic moment for Native American representation in American politics, with Haaland set to become the first Indigenous woman to lead a US state as governor.

Former West Point Cadet Caleb Suh Faces Up to 2 Years in Prison After Pleading Guilty to Drugging Girlfriend and Forcing Her to Take Abortion Pills

Published

on

Former army cadet Caleb T. Suh, one of the sons of US Department of Veterans Affairs Chief of Staff Dr. Ryung Suh, has pleaded guilty to felony assault after admitting that he drugged his then-girlfriend and secretly administered abortion pills to her without her consent.

Follow Elizabethblog WhatsApp channel here

According to court documents and a civil lawsuit, the incident happened in 2022 when the pair were dating after meeting as cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2020.

The woman, identified in court filings as Ms. Doe, reportedly discovered she was pregnant in 2022 and wanted to continue the pregnancy. However, the lawsuit alleged that Suh threatened to kill himself if she refused to have an abortion.

Follow Elizabethblog Telegram channel here

Prosecutors and the civil complaint said Suh later obtained abortion medication by using the woman’s identity to open an account with an online pharmacy. He allegedly ordered the drugs in her name and arranged for them to be delivered to West Point.

He also admitted obtaining Xanax through a friend.

In his guilty plea, Suh stated: “I also obtained Xanax through a friend,”

“My intent was to use the Xanax to unwittingly sedate my girlfriend so that I could then administer the abortion pills, which I had obtained via the online pharmacy.”

The lawsuit alleged that Suh eventually prepared a drink he described as a special pregnancy protein powder shake. However, the smoothie reportedly contained Xanax and promethazine, sedating medications.

The woman, who was also a cadet at the time, reportedly became extremely drowsy after drinking it. Despite finding the drink unpleasant, she alleged that Suh held the bottle against her lips and forced her to finish it.

According to the court filings, she later began drifting in and out of consciousness and recalled Suh touching her vagina.

She also reportedly remembered finding two pills in her mouth and spitting them out, but Suh allegedly placed them back inside.

“Eat this…… It’s good for you.” Suh urged her.

When she regained consciousness, the woman reportedly noticed that she was bleeding and feared she had suffered a miscarriage.

She called 911 and was taken for medical attention, where doctors confirmed that she had lost the pregnancy. She subsequently underwent a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure to remove the remaining pregnancy tissue.

The lawsuit further alleged that while the woman was receiving medical care, Suh ignored her calls and continued seeking advice on an online pharmacy forum about what might happen if doctors discovered the remaining pills in her vagina.

Messages he allegedly sent to the online pharmacy included the question: “Will I feel the pills in my vaginia?”

The pair reportedly separated shortly after the incident.

Despite the allegations, Suh continued his education and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 2024, where he studied emergency medicine. He subsequently enrolled in a master’s programme at Columbia University in Manhattan, according to court documents.

Suh was charged in Manhattan Federal Court and pleaded guilty to felony assault in June. He is represented by attorney Thomas Kenniff, who previously defended Daniel Penny in the Manhattan subway death case.

Speaking about the ordeal, the woman’s lawyer, Russell Kornblith, said:

“As a parent it is difficult not to be incredibly emotionally drained by thinking about what our client has experienced both by the loss of a pregnancy she intended to keep and being robbed of autonomy over her own body.”

Suh is currently awaiting sentencing. He recently requested that his sentencing be postponed until January so he could complete his semester without interruption. The request was granted, while prosecutors are seeking a two-year prison sentence.

Man Banned From Keeping Animals for Five Years After Beating Father’s Dog and Trying to Put It in Recycling Bin

Published

on

A 41-year-old man has been banned from keeping animals for five years after being convicted of abusing his father’s dog, Brandy, and attempting to force the young animal into a public recycling bin.

Adam Lawford was convicted following an incident in April last year, when members of the public reportedly witnessed him beating the 11-month-old dog while walking along a street.

According to eyewitness accounts, Brandy tried to escape by running between parked cars, but Lawford caught him, shook him and struck his head against the pavement from a height.

Witnesses later reported seeing the dog slumped over Lawford’s shoulder as though unconscious. He was subsequently seen picking Brandy up by his back legs and attempting to put him inside a recycling bin.

Passersby who tried to intervene were reportedly shouted at and was told to get back in their car while the frightened dog remained in distress.

Brandy was eventually rescued and taken to a veterinary clinic for examination. The veterinary assessment found mild abrasions on his chin and upper lip, moderate bruising to his abdomen, and wounds to his head and right ear.

The injuries were considered to be less than 24 hours old and likely to have been sustained during the incident.

RSPCA Inspector Jim Farr, who investigated the case, said Brandy was extremely frightened during his stay at the veterinary clinic, despite having what was described as a generally sweet temperament.

The veterinary report stated: “Although Brandy sustained minor physical injuries from his experience, he was not protected from suffering as defined by the Animal Welfare Act.

“He suffered both physical trauma evident in his injuries and mental trauma shown by his timidness in an otherwise sweet-natured dog.”

Lawford denied wrongdoing and maintained that witnesses had fabricated the accusations.

However, at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 21, District Judge Smith described the incident as an appalling offence.

The judge said he was satisfied with the witness evidence and CCTV footage, despite Lawford rejecting the negative accounts of his actions.

Lawford was disqualified from keeping any animals for five years, with no appeal permitted for at least three years.

He was also handed a two-year community order, a probation requirement and an alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement lasting 120 days.

In addition, he was ordered to pay a £360 fine, £700 in costs and a £144 victim surcharge.

Brandy’s owner, who is Lawford’s father, later signed the dog over to the RSPCA. The animal has since been rehomed.

RSPCA Inspector Sarah Morris, who assisted with the case, said: “There is absolutely no excuse for treating any animal in this way.

“Brandy must’ve been scared and incredibly distressed during this ordeal.

“And the various passersby who witnessed it were also very upset by what they had seen.

“Thankfully, after everything Brandy has been through, he is now recovered and in a loving new home.”
