80-Year-Old Man, 7 Others Arrested Over Murder of Benue MACBAN Chairman

The Benue State Police Command has arrested an 80-year-old man alongside seven other suspects in connection with the murder of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa.

It will be recalled that Alhaji Ardo and Yakubu were killed on July 1 while returning from a security meeting organized by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.

In a statement released on July 11, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said the latest arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and coordinated tactical operations carried out by the command.

The newly arrested suspects were identified as Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Sylvester Ajonye (80), Aba Alexander Uloko (59), and Fidelis Iduma (45).

The arrests come after the earlier detention of 10 other suspects linked to the killings, bringing the total number of people arrested in connection with the case to 17.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism and dedication. He also assured residents that investigations are still ongoing and that everyone connected to the crime will be brought to justice.
