Two Children Burnt to Death After Being Set Ablaze by Father’s Girlfriend to Be Buried

The two children who tragically lost their lives after they were allegedly set ablaze by their father’s girlfriend are set to be laid to rest.

The heartbreaking incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of July 6 in the Kaffe community of Zaki-Biam Local Government Area, where the suspect, identified as Mbayegh, allegedly set the children on fire following a disagreement with their father, Aondoyima Ierkwagh.

According to eyewitnesses, Mbayegh visited Aondoyima’s residence and insisted on spending the night with him. However, he allegedly refused to allow her stay, leading to an argument between the two.

A source familiar with the incident said:

“She perhaps thought that her man, Aondoyima Ierkwagh, had brought in another woman, which angered her.”

The source further disclosed that Aondoyima’s wife had travelled to a village in Taraba State for farming activities, leaving him at home with their two daughters.

According to the source, the father later locked the girls inside a round hut before retiring to another hut for the night.

The source added:

“At about midnight, the distraught woman, who was suspecting that the other woman was in the hut, allegedly set the hut where the two daughters were sleeping ablaze, and they were burnt beyond recognition.”
