Al Jazeera Cameraman Ahmed Wishah Killed in Gaza Strike

Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Wishah has been killed in Gaza following a strike that hit a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on Saturday.

According to reports, Wishah was among those killed when the strike targeted the residential building in the camp.

In a statement, Al Jazeera condemned the killing of its journalist, describing it as an attack on press freedom and the work of media professionals in conflict zones.

The network said:

“This constitutes a new and flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and reflects a continued systematic policy of targeting journalists and silencing the voice of truth.”

Wishah’s death comes months after the death of his brother, who was reportedly killed in April 2025 during an Israeli shelling incident while travelling in his vehicle, according to Palestinian civil defence authorities.

Following the strike, the Israeli military confirmed carrying out the operation but alleged that Wishah was affiliated with Hamas.

“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) confirms it carried out a strike on Ahmed Wishah, who was a Hamas terrorist,” a military spokesperson told AFP.

15-Year-Old Boy Sentenced to 100 Years in Prison, Friend Gets 125 Years Over Gang-Related Shooting That Killed a Woman

A 15-year-old boy convicted of murder has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for his involvement in a gang-related shooting that claimed the life of an innocent woman and left two others injured.

Follow the Elizabethblog channel on WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbDQN5lI1rcbSgriLG2M

The teenager, Jo’Majze Larry, of Anderson, Indiana, received the sentence on Wednesday during a hearing before Judge David Happe of the Circuit Court of Madison County.

Jo’Majze Larry

According to prosecutors, Larry was one of four alleged members of the Mickey Cobra Nation (MCN) gang charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Dayla Swain.

Authorities said the incident occurred in February 2025 outside a nightclub in Anderson, a suburb of Indianapolis.

Investigators alleged that Swain was not the intended target but was instead killed during a failed attempt to murder a witness connected to another homicide.

Larry and his co-defendant, Rashawn Samuels, 19, were found guilty by a jury on June 30 after standing trial together.

During a separate court hearing on Thursday, Judge Happe sentenced Samuels to 125 years in prison.

Rashawn Samuels

Both defendants admitted to an additional charge of participating in a criminal organization.

Larry received 50 years for the murder of Dayla Swain and an additional 50 years for the criminal organization enhancement, bringing his total sentence to 100 years.

Samuels was sentenced to 62½ years for the murder conviction and another 62½ years for the gang enhancement, resulting in a total sentence of 125 years.
Commenting on the case, prosecutors stated:

“Indiana law recognizes that criminal organizations can pose a greater threat to public safety because they coordinate criminal activity, recruit others to participate in crime, and often commit offenses for financial gain or to further the goals of the organization,”
Another defendant, Kyree Craver, 19, was convicted in a separate trial earlier this year for Swain’s murder and was sentenced by Judge Happe on July 9 to 90 years in prison.

A fourth defendant is expected to stand trial later this year.

In addition to murder, Larry and Samuels were also convicted of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Because Larry was under the age of 18 when the crime occurred and according to Indiana law, It allows him to apply for a judicial review of his sentence after serving at least 20 years, without requiring the consent of the prosecuting attorney.

Prosecutors said the fatal shooting was connected to the 2023 murder of 15-year-old Jullian Craig, who was killed during an attempted armed robbery.

Authorities alleged that Craig’s death motivated Larry, Samuels, and other alleged gang members to plot the killing of a witness connected to that case.

The planned attack took place outside Sonny Ray’s Nightclub in Anderson on February 2, 2025, but investigators said the intended target survived while Dayla Swain, who was not involved, was fatally shot.

“On 26th July, 2026, at about 11:20pm, the Command received a report at the Lamingo Police Division through a Good Samaritan from the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), informing the Police that some youths had brought an unconscious man to the hospital under suspicious circumstances.

“He has also been identified in photographs obtained during the investigation.

“In the course of interviewing the suspects, they revealed that the victim was suspected to have stolen an iPhone 12 and rather than reporting the matter to law enforcement agencies, the suspects took the law into their own hands, attacked the deceased and beat him to a point of unconsciousness.

“The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Jos, where discreet investigation is ongoing.

“Efforts have also been intensified to apprehend other fleeing suspects connected to the crime.

“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.

“The Plateau State Command strongly condemns the resort to jungle justice and reiterates that no individual or group has the legal authority to assault, or k!ll any person suspected of committing an offence.

“He emphasized that Nigeria’s Administration of Criminal Justice System provides lawful procedures for investigating and prosecuting criminal offences, and every suspect is entitled to due process under the law.

“We further urge members of the public to always report cases of theft, assault, or any other criminal activity to the nearest Police Station or other recognized security agencies for appropriate action.

“He warned that resorting to self help and mob action not only undermines the rule of law, but also exposes perpetrators to criminal prosecution.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain calm, law abiding, and continue to provide credible, timely, and useful information to the Police to aid crime prevention and effective Policing across the State.”

The police said investigations are still ongoing as authorities work to identify and arrest other individuals believed to have participated in the attack.
