Woman loses half of her face after battling with Cancer
A 69-year-old woman has undergone extensive facial surgery after battling a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer that spread across some part portion of her face.
The patient, identified as Mrs. B, had been fighting the disease for four years before doctors resorted to the life-saving procedure as a final option. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, she had already undergone both liver and kidney transplants, making her condition even more complex to manage.
Medical reports revealed that she was diagnosed with recurrent porocarcinoma, a rare cancer originating from sweat glands. Her treatment journey began in 2021 after a tumour was discovered on the right side of her forehead, which was surgically removed.
However, during subsequent chemotherapy, doctors discovered that the cancer had already spread into nearby nerves and surrounding tissues. Scans also revealed abnormal growth in the parotid gland near her jaw.
She later underwent extensive surgery, including the removal of lymph nodes in her neck, complete removal of the affected gland, and facial reconstruction using skin grafts. Despite these efforts, pathology results showed that the cancer continued to spread through blood vessels and nerves.
In an effort to control the disease, she underwent a demanding course of radiotherapy, consisting of 33 sessions targeting the right side of her face and neck. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in 2023.
Surgeons carried out another operation, removing part of her frontal skull bone and performing additional skin grafting. A second cancerous growth later developed near the inner corner of her eye, requiring further surgery and another round of radiation.
By 2025, the disease had progressed aggressively, with multiple tumours spreading across her face. Doctors documented severe swelling, large ulcerated masses around the eye socket, and cancer spread to nearby lymph nodes.
At that stage, specialists determined that there were no conventional treatment options left. Further radiotherapy was ruled out due to safety limits, while chemotherapy was considered unlikely to be effective. Immunotherapy was also deemed too risky because of the high chances of organ rejection and failure linked to her transplant history.
As a final attempt to control the disease, surgeons performed a major operation removing large sections of the right side of her face, including the contents of the eye socket and affected tissues.
Following the procedure, doctors carried out complex reconstructive surgery using tissue from her abdomen, chest, and scalp, along with skin grafts to rebuild the affected area.
Medical experts note that porocarcinoma is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, accounting for less than 0.01% of all skin cancer cases. It typically affects older adults and is known for its ability to spread quickly through the body’s lymphatic system and nerves.
Mrs. B’s case has been documented in a recent medical journal, highlighting both the challenges and complexities involved in treating such a rare condition.

8-Month Pregnant Woman Stabbed to Death as Unborn Baby Is Cut From Her Womb
The victim, identified as María Camila Potosí, was last seen on July 16 riding on the back of a motorcycle in Polvorines, a community in the southwestern Colombian city.

According to authorities, María’s body was discovered on Monday, approximately four miles from her home. Investigators said she had suffered multiple stab wounds and was found covered with a blanket.
Police also confirmed that her unborn baby was missing. María was expecting her first child.
Cali Mayor Alejandro Eder also announced that the city is offering a $62,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects and the safe recovery of the baby.
María’s mother, Alba Gomez, made an emotional appeal for the return of her granddaughter, Alahia, expressing hope that the baby is still alive.
She said:
“The only thing I ask with this appeal and with the hopeful faith I hold that my baby is alive – is for her to be found,”
“I ask that the people who have her search their hearts and return her to me.”
According to María’s family, she was at her boyfriend’s family home when she received a phone call from a woman who was later identified in surveillance footage as the person riding the motorcycle.
The family said María told them she was going with the woman to collect gifts for her unborn baby. They explained that she had recently met the woman at a centre for expectant mothers in Cali.
According to her sister, Juliana Meneses, María had an appointment with her obstetrician on the same day she disappeared.
Speaking to Univision’s news magazine Primer Impacto, Meneses said María’s boyfriend arrived to pick her up but could not find her.
She said:
“He arrived to pick her up at . . . but he didn’t find her and started to get worried.
“We thought maybe she was getting her nails done.”
The family later learned that María had left after receiving a phone call from a woman who allegedly invited her to collect gifts for her unborn baby. According to relatives, María had recently met the woman at a centre for expectant mothers.
In another Update, a man identified as Carlos Rincón shared a video on social media identifying himself as the former boyfriend of the woman believed to be the main suspect in the case.
Rincón said the suspect failed to return home on the day María disappeared. He also disclosed that the woman had told him in January that she was pregnant.
He said:
“I was excited about her pregnancy.
“And many people think I had something to do with it — the kidnapping and murder of the 21-year-old woman — because I had been the motorcyclist’s partner.
“We had nothing to do with it. We knew nothing. My family was another victim. We trusted her, we believed in her.”
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case.
A spokesperson for the Cali Police said the investigation remains ongoing and declined to provide additional details while inquiries continue.

News of her death was shared by Facebook user Zege Orkwande Sughen Yaaya, who alleged that Dorcas had been trafficked to Benin Republic for prostitution.
According to the post, Dorcas died on July 24, 2026 in Benue state.

Mother and 15-Year-Old Daughter Die While Trying to Save Child Swept Away by Rising Tide at Beach
The heartbreaking incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, when emergency services received reports that several people were in difficulty in the water.

Rescue teams, including police officers, paramedics, firefighters, lifeboat crews, coastguard personnel and air ambulance teams, rushed to the beach in a large-scale emergency response.
Despite their efforts, the mother and her teenage daughter could not be saved.
The West Mersea Coastguard Rescue Team later said it had “responded to a tragic incident” and expressed its condolences to the family affected.
According to Daily Dazzling Dawn, the two people who died were a mother and her 15-year-old daughter. The publication reported that the deaths were confirmed by Abul Kalam Azad, convenor of the UK Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and Khosruzzaman Khosru, the party’s UK member secretary.
The report stated:
“The family was enjoying a summer holiday trip to the seaside when the heartbreaking incident occurred.
“Other injured family members were airlifted to a London hospital by helicopter.”
It further added:
“Our source confirmed that the tragedy occurred due to an incoming high tide at West Mersea.
“The family was sitting near the shoreline when a six-year-old child was suddenly swept away by strong currents. Rushing into the water to save the child, both the mother and daughter tragically drowned”
The victims were not publicly identified. However, Daily Dazzling Dawn reported that the woman was the daughter of Mujibur Rahman, a former vice president of the UK BNP originally from Chhatak Upazila in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
The publication also stated that she was the wife of Dr. Mansur Rahman, leader of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the BNP, and the son of Sylhet BNP leader Sheikh Makhan Mia.
Mr. Rahman reportedly confirmed he was present at the beach during the incident but was too distressed to comment further.
Witnesses described a massive emergency response, with at least six ambulances, numerous police vehicles, a fire engine, a lifeboat, two air ambulances and a coastguard helicopter deployed to the scene. A section of the beach remained cordoned off into the evening as investigators carried out their work.
West Mersea is known for rapidly changing tides and strong currents, which can quickly create dangerous conditions for swimmers and beachgoers.
Reacting to the tragedy, Essex Police Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher said:
“Today, our thoughts remain with the family members who are coming to terms with their loss.
“We are grateful to the people who have already spoken to us and helped with our enquiries.
“We would ask anyone who was at the beach at the time, and who has not yet spoken with officers, to please get in touch, to help us understand what happened.”
Essex Police also said its thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of everyone affected by the devastating incident as investigations continue.

Bandits Kill Two, Injure Four and Abduct Nine, Including Pregnant Women in Sokoto
According to reports, the attack occurred on the night of July 19, shortly after a heavy rainfall. The armed assailants allegedly invaded the community around 10:00 p.m. and operated for nearly three hours before leaving at approximately 12:40 a.m.

A resident who spoke about the incident described the terrifying moments when the attackers stormed the village.
The two victims who lost their lives were identified as Abubakar Musa and Bello Madubi.
Meanwhile, Hamisu Garba, Usman Sani, Lawali Mamman, and Isah Bako reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and are receiving treatment.
According to the resident, those abducted include six women and three men, with three pregnant women and three children said to be among the victims taken away by the attackers.
The bandits were also reported to have stolen a large number of livestock before fleeing the community.
Residents said the latest attack came less than two weeks after armed men invaded the nearby communities of Arba and Koliyal, where one person was k*lled and 12 others were abducted.
Community members expressed concern over the worsening security situation across villages in Kwargaba Ward, claiming that more than 60 residents are currently being held captive by bandits in different locations.
According to local accounts, 11 people still in captivity were abducted from Arba Community, while about 35 residents were taken from Gidan Modi. Although eight victims from Gidan Modi were reportedly released after ransom payments, many others remain in captivity.
Residents also said that seven people kidnapped from Sabon Garin Daje have yet to regain their freedom.
The community has appealed to both the Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government to urgently strengthen security in the area, saying residents now live in constant fear of recurring attacks.
Describing the challenges faced by local residents, one community member said:
“We try to defend our communities whenever they attack, but they have superior weapons and always overpower us. Most of the people we lose are k*lled while confronting the attackers because no security help comes. We are pleading with the government to look at our communities with compassion before the situation gets worse,” he said.

According to reports, only four days after arriving at the camp, Dafne’s mother, Alejandra Quintos, received a heartbreaking phone call informing her that her daughter had died.
Speaking about the devastating loss, Alejandra recalled the last time she saw her daughter.
“I handed her over alive and healthy. She came here for a summer course, a military-style camp.
“All they tell me is that she suddenly collapsed in the bathroom out of nowhere, and then 10 minutes later they call me to say she has no vital signs.”
The family reportedly paid 25,000 Mexican pesos (MXN) for Dafne to attend the camp, with the understanding that staff members would provide regular updates about her well-being throughout the program.
According to Alejandra, a staff member identified as Estrella Mora contacted her on Tuesday, July 14, explaining that Dafne had vomited and fainted during a physical activity, causing her to fall face-first and injure her lip.
The following day, Mora reportedly informed the family that Dafne had recovered, saying she felt better after receiving medication, fluids, and medical attention from a specialist.
However, events took a tragic turn on Thursday, July 17, when Alejandra received another phone call. She was told that her daughter was experiencing coughing, vomiting, and incontinence and was being treated with medication. Minutes later, another call informed her that Dafne had passed away.
When Alejandra traveled from the family’s home in Ciudad Mante to the academy, she said her daughter’s body had already been placed inside a body bag.
Days after the incident, another girl who attended the same camp reportedly shared disturbing allegations about the treatment of participants.
“When Dafne was standing, they pushed her and she fell face-first.
“Then they took her to the room, and when they punished her, they would submerge her face in water, and when she couldn’t take it any more, they would make her keep running.”
Dafne’s grandmother also claimed the teenager had visible injuries on different parts of her face.
“They beat her, I know they beat her,” she told local media.
Following Dafne’s death, several parents reportedly went to the academy to take their children home. Some of the children have since provided statements to prosecutors investigating the case.
According to reports, one child alleged that students were forced to take drugs to endure demanding training exercises, while another claimed participants were made to hit one another as part of camp activities.
The academy’s director, Jorge Luis Ponce Ortega, has denied all allegations of abuse or mistreatment. He told investigators that Dafne arrived at the camp with an undiagnosed medical condition.
Speaking to local media, he said:
“She suddenly collapsed while she was showering and never woke up.”
According to Dafne’s death certificate, the official cause of death was listed as:
“asphyxia caused by submersion”.
Her family has announced plans to hire independent forensic experts to conduct a second autopsy in hopes of determining exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, the Tamaulipas Prosecutor’s Office has sealed the military academy as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
Dafne is being remembered by loved ones for her kind and caring nature.
“She loved her little dogs and looked after them with immense patience and love,” read a tribute to Dafne.
Her grieving mother has vowed to continue seeking justice for her daughter.

Notorious Kidnapper Arrested in Ogun After Using Stolen Soldier Uniform in Failed Robbery Attempt
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, July 20, in the Odo Pako area of Ota, bringing an end to what authorities believe was another criminal operation.
According to reports, Oloyede and members of his gang allegedly abducted a soldier in the Alagbado area of Lagos State on Friday, July 18.
The soldier, however, was able to escape from his captors.
Investigations indicate that the suspect later attempted to use the stolen military uniform to impersonate a soldier and deceive a vigilante member in Ota.
He allegedly tried to overpower the vigilante operative in an attempt to seize his locally made Dane gun.
The plan, however, did not succeed, as the vigilante resisted the attack, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Security authorities are expected to continue investigations into the incident, including efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected kidnapping gang who remain at large.

Notorious Drug Lord Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada Sentenced to Life in U.S. Prison, Ordered to Pay $15 Billion Fine
The 76-year-old cartel co-founder, who once had a $15 million U.S. government bounty placed on him, was sentenced on Monday by U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Brooklyn, New York.
According to court records, Zambada was arrested in July 2024 after allegedly being deceived into boarding a plane under the belief that he was traveling to inspect clandestine airstrips in northern Mexico.
Instead, the aircraft landed in Texas, where U.S. authorities took him into custody.
Reports indicated that Joaquín Guzmán López, one of the sons of imprisoned cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, played a role in the operation that led to Zambada’s arrest.
As part of a plea agreement reached last year, Zambada admitted to multiple drug trafficking and conspiracy charges in exchange for avoiding the death penalty.
He also formally acknowledged his role in building the vast Sinaloa Cartel network, which prosecutors say was responsible for smuggling massive quantities of cocaine and other illegal drugs into the United States since the cartel’s formation in the late 1980s.
His guilty plea carried a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
Speaking through a Spanish interpreter during Monday’s hearing, Zambada apologized for his actions.
He said:
“for the harm I caused and for the example I set”
He also urged younger generations to avoid following a similar path.
Zambada added:
“If there’s one thing I can say that has value today, it’s this: the violence must end,”
“In Mexico and elsewhere affected by this type of crime, too many lives are lost, too many families are destroyed, and too many young people are trapped in a cycle that leads only to prison or death.”
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the court also ordered Zambada to forfeit $15 billion, representing the estimated profits generated through his leadership of the criminal enterprise.
Meanwhile, Joaquín Guzmán López, who was also arrested in July 2024, has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges and is awaiting sentencing.
Commenting on the outcome of the case, U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. for the Eastern District of New York said:
“Ismael Zambada Garcia spent nearly four decades poisoning American communities to make billions of dollars in profit and ordering the murders of anyone who stood in his way……Today, that chapter closes for good.”
During the proceedings, Zambada requested to be transferred to a prison hospital, citing age-related medical conditions and the need for ongoing healthcare.
