She Said I Can’t Play on Her Emotions – Actress Doris Akonanya Calls Out Abuja Airport Supervisor for Mocking Her Condition
Nigerian actress Doris Akunaya has taken to social media to share a distressing experience at an airport in Abuja, where she said she was treated unfairly despite her condition.
According to her, the incident occurred on March 30 while she was scheduled to travel with United Nigeria Airlines. She explained that the situation began when a staff member assisting with her luggage directed her from one counter to another, even though the alternative queue was crowded and chaotic.
Doris revealed that she is currently on crutches following a recent accident that left her unable to stand for long periods. She added that one of her crutches was damaged during the incident that led to her injury.
She said that when she approached another counter for assistance, the staff initially apologized for not noticing her condition. However, the situation escalated when a supervisor reportedly intervened and insisted she return to the crowded queue.
According to Doris, the staff member who was attending to her tried to explain her condition, but the supervisor allegedly dismissed the explanation and refused to assist.
She further claimed that she was told she could not be checked in without approval from the same supervisor, who later declined to help her and instructed her to join the queue despite her condition.
Doris said she pleaded repeatedly for assistance, explaining that she could not stand for long due to knee pain.
“I had to go forward and speak to the supervisor myself saying ma please can you assist me and then she was actually checking people in and I pleaded ma please can you assist me i have been stnding over there……. she looked at me and she was like do you have a number and am like no ma i dont have a number and then i was standing the other side she was like go and get a number”
She continued:
“I was like ma please check me in and i was begging and everybody were there and her colleagues were there and i was begging ma please just check me in im on clutches, my kneel is paining me i cannot stand for long, she wwas like that is not her business she is not the cause of my situation….. she said i cannot play on her emotions that i should go and stand at the queue mind you i was never late so she got angry and said they have closed checking that i cannot even get a number even though i want to go and get a number she told me to go and get so i was like ma please why are you being so mean to me do you want me from anywhere and then i was still calm and begging everybody in that airport saw me, I was like this woman no gree she said she is not the cause of my condition saying no be she make me lose one of my legs.”
She added that the experience left her feeling humiliated, noting that even other passengers pleaded on her behalf, but the supervisor remained unyielding.
Doris said the situation eventually pushed her to a breaking point, as she became visibly upset at the airport—an experience she described as completely out of character for her.
