Man Pleads Not Guilty after Involving in D£ath of Man and His Dog

A man has pleaded not guilty after being charged in connection with the d£ath of a Louisville resident and the victim’s dog in a disturbing case currently under investigation in the United States.

Authorities identified the suspect as Charles Gerlach. The incident reportedly occurred on February 26, 2026, in Louisville.

According to police reports, officers were called to the residence where the suspect allegedly jumped from the apartment. When authorities entered the building, they discovered a man who had di£d and whose body had been placed behind a mattress inside a closet.

Police also found the victim’s Chihuahua d£ad in the sink.

After being taken into custody, the suspect was initially detained and later transported to a hospital for medical attention. Following his treatment, he was released and transferred to the custody of Louisville Metro Corrections.

According to investigators, the suspect admitted to st£bbing the victim and moving the body.

Police said he moved the body “to get it out of the way,” and also admitted to st£bbing and drowning the dog.

Gerlach now faces multiple charges including m£rder, abuse of a corpse, and torture of a dog. Authorities confirmed that he is currently being held on a $1 million full cash bond as the case proceeds through the legal system.
