Thousands of Cruise Passengers Left Stranded As Iran Threatens to Set ships who enter ablaze

Thousands of cruise ship passengers are reportedly stranded in ports across the Gulf following Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.

Passengers and crew members have been unable to disembark or sail onward, as heightened military tensions have raised serious safety concerns in the region. Several cruise vessels have effectively become floating hotels while awaiting clearance to depart.

The situation intensified after Iran warned that any vessel attempting to pass through the strait could face attack, vowing to shut down the key waterway.

Reports indicate that approximately 130,000 British nationals are currently stranded across the Gulf region. Airlines are increasing outbound flights from the United Arab Emirates, while the UK government has arranged its first emergency evacuation flight.

At least six cruise ships operated by major companies are said to be unable to leave port as they await further instructions.

Speaking to Bild, one passenger described the atmosphere onboard as tense and uncertain:  “Many passengers, including many families with children, are starting to lose their composure.

Nobody knows how or when we will get out of here.”

The traveler added that there was an atmosphere of “panic, tears” and “fear of further impacts.”
