Chinese Company Goes Viral After Boss Piles $26M Cash for Staff Year-End Party

A Chinese company recently went viral after its year-end party featured $26 million in cash stacked on banquet tables, allowing employees to take as much as they could.

The firm, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. Ltd, held its annual celebration on February 13, placing the vast sum across 800 tables. Employees were reportedly left stunned as they took in the piles of dollars.

According to reports, around 7,000 staff members attended the event. During the gala, the company’s boss, Cui Peijun, explained his approach to rewarding employees: “Why are we giving out washing machines? Do you think gold prices have gone up?

In previous years, we gave necklaces and rings, bring up the cash and give everyone another 20,000 yuan ($2,800).”

When some questioned why the company didn’t simply transfer the money to employees’ accounts, he added:

“Some people ask why we don’t just transfer the money to their accounts, but that way, it’s just cold numbers.”

Cui owns 98.88% of the company’s shares, effectively returning a significant portion of his dividends to employees.

Founded in 2002, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co. Ltd manufactures and rents out cranes and operates in over 130 countries. The company has a long history of rewarding its workforce generously.

In 2024, the firm recorded a net profit of $38 million, distributing approximately $24 million to employees. In 2023, the company allocated $8.5 million to its 40 highest-performing workers, with the top three salespeople earning $730,000 each.

For International Women’s Day last March, nearly 2,000 female employees received bonuses totaling $230,000.

Cui has previously explained his motivations: “It is not that I love giving out money, it is that young people are bhurdened with car loans and mortgages and any relief we can offer helps.”

He has also supported education for underprivileged youth. In 2022, he gave away $4.7 million to over 4,000 university students from low-income backgrounds, stating:

“Poverty should not be passed down to the next generation. They shouldn’t be stopped from attending school because of poor living conditions.”
