I never asked for full custody of Imade- Davido finally speaks

Nigerian music star Davido has spoken out following his emotional outburst in court during a custody hearing involving his first daughter, Imade.

Videos from the courtroom had earlier gone viral, showing the singer shouting at a lawyer during the custody trial between himself and his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Davido clarified that he never asked for full custody of his daughter. According to him, all he has ever wanted is joint custody.

He further explained that his outburst was triggered when the lawyer mentioned his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, during the proceedings.

The singer said the reference to his son deeply affected him emotionally, especially as the custody case was already a sensitive matter for him.

This comes months after Davido suffered the tragic loss of Ifeanyi, who died on October 21, 2022, after drowning in a swimming pool.
