British graduate Lucy Harrison sh£t dead by her father after an argument over Donald Trump
A 23-year-old British graduate, Lucy Harrison, was sh-t dead by her father at his home in Prosper, Texas, just hours after the pair had argued about Donald Trump.
Lucy had been preparing to return to the UK on January 10, 2025, following a Christmas holiday in the US, which she spent with her boyfriend, Sam Littler. She was due to fly back to Manchester later that day.
A police report confirmed that Lucy died from gunsh-t wounds to the chest after being “sh-t by another person” from a “medium range” inside the property. Despite this, a grand jury later ruled that no one should be prosecuted.
Speaking after the decision, Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, described the outcome as “baffling” and “beyond comprehension”.
At an inquest into her death, it was revealed for the first time that Lucy was fatally sh-t by her father in a bedroom at the house, with no one else present at the time.
The inquest heard that Lucy was “categorically anti-gun” and had raised concerns about the safety of her father owning a firearm, particularly with her young half-sisters living in the home. She had previously said it was unsafe for him to have a gun around children.
It was also disclosed that Lucy’s father had a long history of alcohol problems. In 2023, he suffered an алкоголь-related seizure that left him in a coma before entering rehabilitation. He later relapsed in 2024 and was said to have “lied” to Texas police about his drinking.
Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the inquest that Lucy had argued with her father on the morning of her death about Donald Trump. On the same day, the then president-elect received an unconditional discharge following his conviction over “hush money” paid to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.
Sam said the argument left Lucy “upset”, and he had to “console” her. However, later that day, Lucy and her half-sisters played happily in the snow before she and Sam packed their bags for their evening flight home.
Mr Littler said he had no concerns that Lucy’s father had been drinking that day, although he admitted he “always felt on edge” during visits.
“There was a lot of very opinionated people in the house,” he said.
He also told the court that Lucy’s father drove alone to the shops twice that morning, insisting no one join him because the snowy roads were “dangerous”. Sam said he did not see any alcohol brought back into the house.
According to Mr Littler, at around 3pm, as they were preparing to leave, Lucy’s father took her by the hand in a “mysterious manner” and led her into his downstairs bedroom without saying a word.
Sam was aware that a handgun was kept in a cabinet in that room, although he had never seen it.
Within 15 seconds, he heard a loud bang, which he initially believed was a “prank”. Moments later, he heard Lucy’s father screaming. Sam and his wife, Heather, rushed into the room and found Lucy collapsed on the floor.
Sam called 911 after spotting a gun on the corner of the bed, although he said he did not initially realise Lucy had been sh-t.
He also revealed that Lucy’s father had previously spoken about taking his gun out of its case when an outside security light came on and walking around “like James Bond”, only to discover the “intruder” was a raccoon. Sam said he did not know whether Lucy’s father had received any firearms training.
In a statement read to the court, Lucy’s friend Ella Gowing said Lucy had “confided” in her about her father’s “drink problem” and expressed concerns about “volatility” in his home.
She described the presence of a gun in the house as creating an “unpredictable environment” and said Lucy was “immediately really upset” when she learned her father had bought one.
“She could not understand why Kris would bring this into his home,” Ms Gowing said.
“She was categorically anti-gun.”
Lucy had also worried deeply about the safety of her younger half-sisters, saying she did not want them around something so dangerous.
Lucy’s mother became tearful as she gave evidence, telling the inquest that her daughter was unhappy about her father owning a gun, although there had been no specific incidents during previous visits.
She said Lucy’s father could become “bold” when under the influence of alcohol.
Ms Coates said she last spoke to her daughter 15 minutes before she was sh-t, at which point Lucy and her boyfriend were “packed up and ready to go”.
Lucy’s parents had separated when she was young, and her father had lived in the US since she was ten. After turning 18, Lucy visited Texas two to three times a year to see him and her half-sisters.
Paying tribute, her mother described Lucy as “a real force of life”, adding that she was “sensitive, energetic, intelligent, funny and a really great human being”.
“She was passionate about things and loved to have debates,” she said.
The inquest also heard that questions remain over Lucy’s father’s firearms training and whether he knew there was a bullet in the gun.
During the hearing at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, lawyers representing Lucy’s father unsuccessfully attempted to have senior coroner Jacqueline Devonshire step aside, accusing her of being “biased”.
However, the coroner rejected the application, stating there was no evidence of bias and confirming that Lucy’s father had been given opportunities to respond to the evidence. She also noted that he had “lied” to police in Texas about his drinking.
Lucy, a fashion buying graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University, had earned a first-class degree and secured her “dream job” as a buyer’s admin assistant at Boohoo.
An autopsy later confirmed she died from a single gunsh-t wound fired by another person. Tests showed she was negative for alcohol and drugs. She was pronounced dead at Baylor Scott and White Medical Centre at 3.47pm local time on January 10.
Prosper Police Department later confirmed the case had passed through the US courts with “no prosecution”.
Just hours before her death, Lucy had been posing for photographs in the snow.
In a joint tribute released by Cheshire Police, Lucy’s mother and boyfriend said:
“Lucy was life. She lived it fiercely and fearlessly, not being afraid to feel all that life has to offer. Lucy unashamedly loved – she had a huge capacity to love and be loved.”
“She was truly thriving in life and although this gives us great comfort, we are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, gorgeous Luce.”
Lucy’s funeral was held at St Elphin’s Parish Church in Warrington, attended by more than 400 people.
“At Lucy’s funeral, my message to people was for them to continue to live their life fiercely and fearlessly like Lucy did,” her mother said.
“She wasn’t afraid. She wasn’t afraid to feel.”
The inquest is ongoing.

Builder Found Dead in Hotel Fire After Struggling With Debt
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4:35pm, where firefighters worked to bring the flames under control before discovering his body inside the building.
During the inquest held on 22 June, it was heard that Raileanu had been dealing with increasing pressure from financial and personal struggles. Reports indicated that he had accumulated substantial debts related to gambling and drug use.
CCTV footage reportedly showed him entering the former hotel through the back entrance at around 3pm and not leaving the building afterwards.
Detective Constable Stephen Carroll, who led the investigation, told the court that on the morning of his death, Raileanu had walked into Newquay Police Station and asked what he needed to do to be put in prison.
“He walked into the police station and asked what he needed to do to be arrested,” he said.
“He spoke with officers and explained his situation, including his drug addiction and debts. He was offered support but declined it.”
Senior Coroner Andrew Cox of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly stated that Raileanu had travelled from London to Newquay for construction work and had been struggling with depression and mounting financial pressure.
He concluded that it was more likely than not that Raileanu intended to take his own life.
Following the tragedy, family and friends expressed deep grief over his passing. His mother later launched a fundraising appeal in his memory, describing him as a loving father and hardworking man whose death has left a painful void.

Al Jazeera Cameraman Ahmed Wishah Killed in Gaza Strike
Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Wishah has been killed in Gaza following a strike that hit a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on Saturday.
According to reports, Wishah was among those killed when the strike targeted the residential building in the camp.
The network said:
“This constitutes a new and flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and reflects a continued systematic policy of targeting journalists and silencing the voice of truth.”
Wishah’s death comes months after the death of his brother, who was reportedly killed in April 2025 during an Israeli shelling incident while travelling in his vehicle, according to Palestinian civil defence authorities.
Following the strike, the Israeli military confirmed carrying out the operation but alleged that Wishah was affiliated with Hamas.
“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) confirms it carried out a strike on Ahmed Wishah, who was a Hamas terrorist,” a military spokesperson told AFP.

South African Woman Sentenced to 130 Years in Prison Over Coc£ine Trafficking in Sierra Leone
Denise, a resident of Nenvonds in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Drugs, Dealing in Prohibited Drugs, Collecting Prohibited Drugs, Importing Prohibited Drugs, and Transporting Prohibited Drugs under the National Drugs Control Act, 2008.
According to court records, she was arrested at Freetown International Airport in Lungi after authorities allegedly discovered 365 pellets of cocaine weighing approximately 5.4 kilograms in her possession without lawful authority.
She pleaded not guilty to all charges during the trial.
To support its case, the prosecution presented three witnesses, including forensic toxicologist Joseph Lahai, who testified that laboratory analysis confirmed that samples taken from the seized substances tested positive for Cocaine Hydrochloride.
Defence counsel Ibrahim Samba informed the court that his client chose to rely on her statement to the police and would not be calling any witnesses to testify on her behalf.
After reviewing the evidence, Justice Johnson ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
“I am satisfied that the Prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt,” the judge stated before finding Denise guilty on all five counts.
The court handed down the following sentences:
- Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Drugs – 10 years imprisonment
- Dealing in Prohibited Drugs – 30 years imprisonment
- Collecting Prohibited Drugs – 30 years imprisonment
- Importing Prohibited Drugs – 30 years imprisonment
- Transporting Prohibited Drugs – 30 years imprisonment
Although the combined sentences amount to 130 years, the court ordered that all terms be served concurrently, meaning they will run at the same time rather than one after another. The sentence takes effect from the date she was first remanded in custody.
Justice Johnson also ordered that the cocaine and all related exhibits be forfeited to the state and destroyed in the presence of the appropriate authorities.

Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has been recognized as a Guinness World Records ICON.
In a statement shared by Guinness World Records, it wrote:

The organization noted that Hilda began her culinary journey while still in primary school, assisting at her mother’s restaurant in Abuja.
Reflecting on those early years, Hilda said:
“I always got so many tips because I used to memorize the whole menu and I was very sharp-mouthed!”
Although she studied sociology in college and explored different career paths, including television hosting and acting, her passion for cooking eventually led her back to the kitchen.
She became a professional chef in 2020 and later launched her restaurant, Hilda’s Kitchen, now known as My Food by Hilda. Through her cooking content and recipe-sharing online, she built a strong social media presence that attracted millions of followers.
Speaking on the lessons she has learned throughout her career, Hilda said:
“Consistency beats talent. Systems beat hustle. And humility keeps you growing.”
Hilda gained global attention in 2023 when she attempted the longest cooking marathon in Lekki, Lagos. During the challenge, she cooked continuously for 93 hours and 11 minutes between May 11 and May 15, drawing support from thousands of fans both in Nigeria and around the world.
According to Guinness World Records, the demand for updates during the attempt was so high that their website experienced disruptions due to the volume of traffic from supporters.
While the record has since been surpassed, Guinness World Records noted that Hilda had already made a lasting impact through her achievement.
In September 2025, she added another record to her accomplishments when she partnered with Gino Nigeria to create the largest serving of rice. The record-breaking dish weighed 8,780 kilograms and was prepared in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The massive jollof rice meal was made using thousands of kilograms of rice, fresh goat meat, and Hilda’s signature jollof pepper mix. More than 16,600 portions were later distributed, ensuring that none of the food went to waste.
Speaking about her love for food, Hilda shared:
“I love rice. Truly. I could eat rice dishes every single day for a year and not get tired of it. There’s something incredibly versatile and comforting about rice – it carries so many flavours beautifully. Being from Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria, I also deeply love Afang soup. It’s a traditional soup made with wild spinach and richly seasoned meats and seafood. 8-Year-Old Boy Dies After Drowning During World Cup Watch Party
An 8-year-old boy has tragically died following an incident at a World Cup watch party in El Segundo, California.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on June 12 when the child, identified as Taylor Thach, became unresponsive while attending a gathering at a friend’s home.
Speaking about the incident, Eric Atkinson, an Investigations Lieutenant with the El Segundo Police Department, said that all indications currently point to an accidental drowning.
He also noted that an autopsy had not yet been conducted on the 8-year-old.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are gathering statements from individuals who attended the World Cup watch party.
Meanwhile, members of the community have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Taylor’s family during the difficult period.
The fundraiser, which initially set a goal of $5,000, has received overwhelming support, raising more than $83,000 within four days.
According to the campaign, the funds will go directly to Taylor’s mother, Sokunthea Thach, father, Somnang Thach, and brother, Jordan Thach.
Taylor is being remembered by family members, friends, and members of his school community for his kindness and positive spirit.
A neighbor who created the fundraiser wrote:
“It is with unimaginable sadness and heartbreak that we share the loss of Taylor Thach, a beloved Center Street School student, who tragically passed away following an accidental drowning.
“Taylor had been a Cougar since kindergarten and was a beloved member of the school community. He was known for his kind heart and friendly spirit.
“Affectionate and polite, he often went out of his way to ask others how they were doing or to wish them a good day. He brought joy to those around him.
“As a community, we are struggling to make sense of such a devastating loss.
“The El Segundo Families have always shown up for one another in times of need, and we know so many people are asking how they can help.
