A hardworking 19-year-old named Samuel has captured hearts across Nigeria and beyond after his story of determination went viral—and the kindness that followed changed his life in a big way.
Samuel used to make a living by collecting plastic waste and cartons from dumping sites, selling them to earn between ₦1,000 and ₦2,000 a day. He was saving every kobo to buy the tools he needs to start tiling work, his real dream and passion.
Everything changed when a content creator spotted him picking waste at a dumpsite, heard his story, and decided to share it online.
In total, Samuel received:
- ₦1 million in direct cash
- ₦7.05 million in donations from kind-hearted Nigerians
- A full scholarship (to help him build his future)
- A brand-new phone
- ₦50,000 extra cash
- The exact tiling tools and equipment he’d been saving up for
