Victims Found 7 Days After Indonesian Plane Crash in South Sulawesi

All victims who were reported missing after the Indonesian plane crash in the Mount Bulusaraung area of South Sulawesi province have been found, seven days after an intense search and rescue operation.

According to Andi Sultan, an official of the National Search and Rescue Agency at the Makassar office, the final bodies of the victims were recovered on Friday morning. He confirmed the development while speaking to Detik News.

Reports revealed that the aircraft was carrying officials from Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, who were on an aerial surveillance mission to monitor the region’s resources.

During the recovery operation, two of the victims were identified as cabin crew member Florencia Lolita and Deden Maulana.

The aircraft, an ATR 42-500 operated by Indonesia Air Transport, lost contact on Saturday while flying from Yogyakarta to Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi. The plane went down in the Maros district.

Debris from the aircraft was discovered on Sunday, prompting a large-scale search effort involving multiple agencies. The plane was carrying a total of 10 people, including seven crew members and three passengers.

Authorities also confirmed that the aircraft’s black box has been recovered from the crash site by the joint search and rescue team, as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
