Mum of Two Dies After Nose Surgery

A mother of two has tragically died following a cosmetic nose surgery she underwent on November 10th.

The woman, identified as Miriam Mitma Yalli, reportedly passed all her pre-operative tests before the procedure. According to information shared by the family, she was administered a higher dose of anesthesia than her body required, which led to severe complications.

Shortly after receiving the anesthesia, Miriam went into cardiac arrest. She was transferred to intensive care, where she remained for several days. Doctors later diagnosed her with hypoxic-anoxic leukoencephalopathy, a serious condition caused by significant oxygen loss to the brain.

Despite medical efforts, Miriam sadly passed away on December 8th.

Her husband, Daniel Gómez Rufasto, has called for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Reacting to the heartbreaking loss, Miriam’s mother said: “My daughter was healthy, just one operation and this happened. I want justice for my daughter.”

Following her death, family members and supportive members of the community gathered at the Public Ministry headquarters in Hualhuas, staging a protest to demand accountability and justice for Miriam.
