Mom Arrested for Murdering Her Daughter Over Inheritance Disagreement

A mother has been arrested after allegedly planning the brutal murder of her own daughter in a bid to seize her inheritance.

The victim, identified as Allani Rayane Santos, 24, was found dead inside her home on November 17th. Authorities said her body showed signs of stab wounds, physical abuse, and her hands were tied, indicating she had been tortured before her death.

Following the discovery, Allani’s mother was arrested the next day, November 18th, after investigators linked her to the crime. Police also apprehended the alleged perpetrator — a man who was reportedly in a romantic relationship with Allani’s mother.

According to police, the suspect confessed and detailed how Allani’s mother convinced him to kill her daughter. Before her death, Allani and her mother had jointly inherited three properties and a large sum of money from Allani’s maternal grandfather.

Driven by jealousy and greed, the mother allegedly sent the suspect to Allani’s residence in Caruaru, west of Recife, Brazil, where he tied her to a chair and tortured her in an attempt to force her to transfer the inherited money into her mother’s account.

When Allani refused, she was stabbed, beaten, and sustained severe eye injuries. She died during the assault.

Both suspects have been charged with murder with aggravating factors and torture.
Reacting to the shocking crime, Detective Eric Costa told local media: “He says he carried out the killing alone, but the planning of the crime was done together with the victim’s mother, who acted as the mastermind.

“Allani’s mother reportedly contradicted herself several times during questioning.

“Her account isn’t credible.

“Everything we’ve uncovered so far points to her as the mastermind behind the crime, along with her partner, who was arrested hours earlier.

“They allegedly planned the crime to seize money the victim had from her grandfather’s inheritance, as well as property the family owns on the Pernambuco coast.

“Afterwards, the suspects intended to leave the state and start a new life elsewhere.”

The detective described Allani’s relationship with her mother as “far from friendly”.

He said: “They frequently clashed, mostly over money.

“This was the main cause of their arguments, and it was this greed that led the mother to plan her daughter’s death.”
