Brazilian Blogger, Barbara Elisa Yabeta Borges, Shot Dead During Gang Clash

Tragedy struck in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as 28-year-old blogger and banker, Barbara Elisa Yabeta Borges, was killed during a gang-related shooting on October 31st, 2025.

According to reports, Barbara was riding in the back seat of a car near the Fundão footbridge when gunfire suddenly erupted amid a clash between rival criminal gangs.

The driver of the vehicle said the shooting began unexpectedly as they passed through the area. Sadly, Barbara was struck in the head by a stray bullet. She was rushed to Hospital Geral de Bonsucesso, where she was pronounced dead.

Police confirmed that officers from the 22nd Battalion responded to the scene and recovered a rifle, several magazines, and ammunition used during the shootout.

Just hours before her death, Barbara had shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, encouraging her 18,000 followers to “care for those who love you” and reminding them that “people cannot be replaced.”

Barbara, who had recently been promoted at a bank in Rio’s South Zone, was admired for her love of outdoor adventures, frequently posting photos of her runs, hikes, and travels.
