He Dumped Me After I Couldn’t Walk Again — Woman Reveals How Her Fiance Abandoned Her and Married Someone Else After She Became Disabled in an Accident
A Zambian woman, Luundu Mwanakasale, has shared the heartbreaking story of how her fiancé abandoned her to marry another woman after she became paralyzed following a tragic car accident.
According to Luundu, the life-changing incident happened in December 2014, just a day before Christmas. She was 24 years old at the time and eagerly preparing for her wedding.
She explained that she had gone out with her fiancé to try on her wedding dress when the car they were traveling in overturned in Monze.
While her fiancé escaped the crash without a single injury, Luundu wasn’t as lucky. She suffered a severe spinal cord injury, and doctors later informed her that she would never walk again.
In an interview with Kalemba, a local Zambian newspaper, Luundu revealed that she spent three months in the hospital, during which her fiancé initially pretended to stand by her side.
However, she soon discovered that while she was still recovering, he had already started dating another woman — and later went on to marry her.
She said: “We dated for two years. So three years after the accident, he changed and married someone else. I would say we dated for five years. After the accident he married someone else, I just heard from my friend, four days before his wedding that he was getting married,”
“If it wasn’t for my friend, I wasn’t going to know he was getting married. Because all this while we were communicating and everything was just fine and he kept telling me he would still marry me. After I heard the news of his wedding, I called him and he never answered until three weeks after his wedding.”
“The day I found out he was getting married, I fell into real depression and I resorted to baking to cool down. After three weeks of his wedding, he called me to ask if my bank account was working because he was the one paying my hospital bills and he just sent the money and went quiet,” Luundu told Kalemba.
In 2021, the young teacher finally found healing and decided it was time to move forward. Determined to rebuild her life, Nalila Vyambili enrolled at Chreso University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
On Friday, Luundu — who is also her mother’s only child — proudly graduated with distinction in her Bachelor of Education program. She is now ready to inspire young learners, teaching them about civic responsibility, moral values, and the importance of fearing God through Civic Education and Religious Education.
She added: “I decided to get up because I thought of the people that fought for me to be alive when I was in the hospital while I was in depression. I would not even eat what I used to cook. I decided to go back to school because of my family that took care of me when I was sick. I said I will not progress because of a man who has decided to progress and chosen his happiness”
Eleven years later, 35-year-old Luundu Mwanakasale has found happiness again. She is now engaged to the love of her life — a man who looked beyond her disability and saw the amazing woman she truly is.
