Florida 6th Grader Arrested After Threatening to Bring a Gun to School on Snapchat

A Florida 6th grader, identified as T’a Nerriah Ward, has been arrested after reportedly posting on Snapchat that she planned to bring a gun to school.

According to authorities, the 12-year-old made the alarming post in a school group chat linked to DeLand Middle School.

Once the message surfaced, concerned individuals immediately contacted police, who received the call around 9:40 p.m. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly, arresting the student and launching a full investigation into the threat.

Ward was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts, then processed at the Family Resource Center before being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office later shared footage of the arrest on their Facebook page.
