FCT Police Release CCTV Footage, Confirm Arrest of 12 Suspects Linked to Arise TV Reporter, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu Death

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has released CCTV footage following the arrest of 12 suspects connected to the tragic death of Arise TV reporter, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on September 29, 2025, at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, when the building where the late journalist resided was attacked by armed robbers.

During the robbery, Somtochukwu attempted to escape by jumping from the third floor of the building, but sadly, she lost her life in the process.

Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, SP Josephine Adeh, released an official statement revealing the identities of the suspects.

The suspects were named as: Shamsudeen Hassan (Malumfashi, Katsina State), Hassan Isah, 22 (Zaria, Kaduna State), Abubakar Alkamu (aka Abba), 27, Sani Sirajo (aka Dan Borume), 20 – identified as the gang driver, Mashkur Jamilu (aka Abba), 28, Suleiman Badamasi (aka Dan Sule), 21 – provided vehicles for operations, Abdulsalam Saleh (aka Na-Durudu), Zaharadeen Muhammad (aka Gwaska), 23, Musa Adamu (aka Musa Hassan), 30, Sumayya Mohammed (aka Baby), 27, Isah Abdulrahman (aka Abbati), 25
and Musa Umar (aka Small), 31

SP Josephine Adeh confirmed that all the suspects hail from Kaduna and Katsina States and were tracked down through digital intelligence and CCTV analysis.

She said: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang procured their firearms from a yet to be identified supplier in Niger Republic. They have also confessed to participating in other armed robbery operations at Katampe 1, a hotel in Apo, and another in Zuba, all within the FCT.

“Further investigations confirmed that the fatal shot which claimed the life of the security guard, Mr. Barnabas Danlami, was fired by one of the suspects, Shamsudeen Hassan”
