Sean Diddy Combs Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison and fined $500,000 after being convicted of transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters.

The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian in Manhattan on Friday, comes after a high-profile two-month federal trial. While Combs was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges—which could have carried a life sentence—he was convicted under the Mann Act, a federal law that prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

Since Combs has already served one year in custody, he is expected to be released in about three years.

Judge Subramanian questioned how Combs’ behavior persisted for so long, stating:

“Because you had the power and the resources to keep it going, and because you weren’t caught.”

Combs showed little emotion as the sentence was read, though he apologized to his family and victims.

“I ask your honor for a chance to be a father again … a leader in my community again … for a chance to get the help I desperately need to be a better person.”

The trial featured harrowing testimony from multiple women, including singer Cassie Ventura, who said Combs forced her into “disgusting” sex with strangers hundreds of times during their decade-long relationship. Jurors were also shown a disturbing video of Combs dragging and beating her in a Los Angeles hotel hallway.

Another woman, known as Jane, testified that she was coerced into sex with male workers during drug-fueled “hotel nights” while Combs watched and sometimes recorded.

Prosecutor Christy Slavik told the court: “It’s a case about a man who did horrible things to real people to satisfy his own sexual gratification. He didn’t need the money. His currency was control.”

Combs’ daughters, Chance and D’Lila, wept as they addressed the judge, pleading for leniency.

“Please, your honor, give our family the chance to heal together … not as a headline, but as human beings,” D’Lila said through tears.

Six of Combs’ seven children spoke in court, recalling their fear of losing their father after the 2018 death of their mother, Kim Porter.
