Man Arrested for K*lling Girlfriend and Hiding Body in Suitcase

A Brazilian man, Atílio Ferreira da Silva, has been arrested after allegedly k*lling his girlfriend and concealing her body in a suitcase.

Authorities say Ferreira stabbed Jane de Araújo Lima to death about two weeks ago. In an attempt to cover up the crime, he reportedly cleaned his home thoroughly before dumping her body inside a suitcase, which he left in a vacant lot in São Paulo before fleeing.

The suitcase was discovered by three children, who forced it open after noticing it was padlocked. Inside, they found Jane’s body, dressed only in shorts. A local businessman, Ivanildo Cardoso da Silva, who witnessed the discovery, said the children were left in shock by the gruesome scene.

When police searched Ferreira’s home, they found traces of blood. Though he initially denied involvement, he later confessed after being confronted with evidence, including the weapons believed to have been used in the killing.

In his defense, Ferreira claimed that he acted during a heated argument, alleging that Jane had threatened him with a knife.

During a court hearing on September 10th, a judge ordered Ferreira to remain in custody while investigations continue.
