17-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition After Being Mauled by Her Friend Dog

A 17-year-old girl, identified as Annalyse Blyton, is fighting for her life after being mauled by her friend’s dog in Hunter Valley.

The incident happened around 11:30 am on Broughton Street while Annalyse was studying for her exams at her friend’s home. According to reports, she was about to leave when she attempted to pet the dog. The animal suddenly attacked, inflicting severe injuries.

Passersby rushed to her aid, jumping into the compound to restrain the dog and providing first aid before paramedics arrived.
Hunter Valley Acting Superintendent Justin Cornes confirmed the incident saying: “It was an incredible act given the circumstances,” he said.
“They rendered what potentially could be life-saving treatment.”

Annalyse sustained critical injuries to her head, neck, and body. She was immediately flown to John Hunter Hospital for urgent treatment.

Police revealed that the dog, a 10-year-old mixed breed of boxer, bull Arab, and Irish wolfhound, was euthanized after the attack and removed from the property.
