Colombian Drug Lord Arrested for Using Crocodile to Dispose of Victims

A Colombian drug lord identified as Robinson Zuluaga Arroyo has been arrested after police discovered he used a crocodile to dispose of his victims.

According to authorities, Arroyo was charged with homicide, drug trafficking, and the illegal exploitation of natural resources. Police revealed that he fed his victims’ remains to a crocodile, which has also been seized by security operatives.

The arrest took place in Buenaventura, a port city notorious for drug-related violence. Investigators further linked Arroyo to Los Espartanos, one of the two gangs—alongside rivals Los Shottas—that have long terrorized the region.

The conflict between both gangs has wreaked havoc on Buenaventura, with violence including threats, murders, disappearances, and extortion, forcing many residents to abandon their homes. Police reported that more than 140 members of the two groups have been arrested this year alone, as they continue to battle for control of sea routes crucial for international cocaine trafficking.

The National Police announced Arroyo’s arrest on August 19, calling it a major step in dismantling organized crime in the region.

Speaking on the case, a police spokesperson said: “We reaffirm our commitment to taking strong action against the criminal groups that threaten the safety and calm of Buenaventura”
