Man Sentenced to Life for M*rder of Nigerian Boxer
A 37-year-old man, Nicholas Francis Giroux, has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus 20 years for the first-degree murder of Nigerian boxer, Isaiah Olugbemi, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States.
It could be recalled that Giroux pleaded guilty to the murder in February 2025.
According to reports, on June 17, 2024, police received a distress call from the 500 block of Meadowmist Way in Odenton, stating that Olugbemi had been shot. Paramedics arrived at the scene but sadly pronounced him dead.
Investigations revealed that Giroux shot Olugbemi multiple times, striking him at least three times before he collapsed. Although a gun was found on Giroux at the time, he was initially not arrested as he had not shot anyone else.
Authorities further disclosed that about two weeks before the killing, Giroux had confronted Olugbemi and a neighbor while they were playing music and enjoying cocktails in the neighbor’s backyard. On June 18, 2024, he confessed to the murder.
