Father of Four Takes His Own Life Over Hardship
A community in Imo State has been thrown into mourning after a 50-year-old man, identified as Odomma, reportedly took his own life due to financial difficulties.
According to reports, Odomma had been struggling to provide for himself and his family. His body was discovered today, August 22, inside an uncompleted building near his residence.
Odomma, a father of four, was well known in the community for his water-selling business, with prices ranging from ₦100 upwards. Neighbors described him as a hardworking man who was widely patronized but had appeared visibly depressed in recent months.
A community member, Ikenna, told PUNCH that before the incident, Odomma had confided in close friends about the challenges he was facing and how badly the hardship was weighing him down.
The source said: “He said if the situation continued, he would take his life to end the misery. We advised him to report the matter to the village head for settlement. Sadly, he chose this path. Just see how this man ended his life because of money. He could have sold his GP tank or generator to get food, but he decided to take his life. Now others will gather to eat and he won’t be part of it,”
