Mozambican Man Convicted of Kidn*pping, R*pe, and M*rder of 6-Year-Old Girl in South Africa

A 25-year-old Mozambican national, Sara Pete Simiao, has been convicted by the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Local Division in Johannesburg, for the kidnapping, r*pe, and m*rd*r of a 6-year-old girl, Amantle Samane.

Simiao faced four counts, including rape, kidn*pping, and m*rder, to which he pleaded guilty. Represented by his counsel, he admitted to the crimes, claiming he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

According to court proceedings led by State Advocates Zamikhaya Staffa and Matshediso Phatlanyane, the tragic incident unfolded after the victim’s mother, with help from the Orlando East community, began searching for her daughter.

During the search, a witness reported seeing the child walking with Simiao — someone he knew was not a relative. This prompted suspicion, and community members traced them to a shack where the child’s lifeless, half-n*ked body was discovered.

Following an intensive manhunt, police arrested Simiao in Zola, Soweto, on October 23, 2024.

The case has been adjourned until August 19, 2025, for sentencing.
