Trump, Putin Meet in Alaska to Discuss Ukraine Peace Deal Without Zelenskyy

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have met for the first time in Alaska, ahead of talks on a potential Ukraine peace deal — notably without Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The two leaders were seen sharing light conversation and exchanging jokes on the runway in Anchorage, Alaska, at around 11:20 a.m. local time (8:20 p.m. UK time). They later posed for photos on the Alaska platform, shaking hands for the second time during the encounter.

Their last in-person meeting was in 2019, where they addressed a breakdown in U.S.-Russia relations, allegations of election interference, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
