Nigerian Army Rescues Six Kidnap Victims in Kogi State

The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation in Kogi State.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lokoja, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the rescue took place on Thursday, August 2025, following credible intelligence on the victims’ location.

Upon arrival at the scene, the kidnappers reportedly fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their captives along with ammunition and other items.

The victims were identified as four males and two females. Among them was the Seriki Fulani of Asinwe community, Mallam Adamu Zage. They had been abducted in separate incidents — four victims on August 12 in Asinwe community, Okehi Local Government Area, and two others on July 28 in Apata community, Lokoja.

Commander 12 Brigade Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Accord III, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi — represented by the Commanding Officer, 126 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Francis Nwoffiah — commended the professionalism of the troops and partner security agencies.

He warned kidnappers and bandits operating in Kogi State and its environs to desist from criminal activities or face decisive military action, assuring that operations across Kogi and neighbouring states will be intensified to deny criminals any safe haven.
