A video has gone viral showing the terrifying moment a 41-year-old man caused panic on a flight by claiming he had a bomb onboard.
In the footage, the man can be heard shouting loudly: “Stop the plane. Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump. Allahu Akbar!”
He then reportedly moved to the rear of the aircraft, continuing to yell.
Thankfully, a quick-thinking passenger seated at 21 jumped into action, tackling the man to the floor, while another helped restrain him.
A voice in the background was heard firmly instructing: “Sit down, don’t move.”
Others began questioning him about his bag, whether he actually had a bomb, and if he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
After the plane safely landed at 8:20 a.m., Scotland Police boarded the aircraft and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, officers were heard calmly addressing the man:
“You’re calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up?”
To which he replied, “I’m calm now.”
As he was escorted off the plane, the man asked for his phone and wallet, triggering disbelief from passengers. One remarked: “It’s like a comedy sketch.”
In response, easyJet issued a statement confirming the incident, saying: “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard. Our crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers are not compromised. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always our highest priority.”
Confirming his arrest, Police spokesperson said: ““At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. We are aware of videos circulating online, and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers,”
