1-Year-Old Boy Bites Cobra to Death in India, Survives Snake Encounter

In a bizarre and astonishing incident, a 1-year-old boy from Bettiah village in Bihar, India, has survived after reportedly biting a cobra to death while playing outside his home.

The toddler, identified as Govinda, was said to be playing near the house when the venomous snake slithered close to him. According to reports, the child became agitated and reacted instinctively by sinking his teeth into the reptile — an act that resulted in the death of the cobra.

Shortly after the encounter, Govinda fell unconscious and was rushed to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC). Due to the seriousness of the situation, he was later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah for specialized care.

Doctors administered immediate treatment, and confirmed that Govinda is now in stable condition and remains under observation.

Speaking on the incident, Govinda’s grandmother said: “The snake came out, and the child hit it with something and then bit and killed it. It was a gehuaan (cobra). The child is just one year old,”
