The movie, which premiered on HBO Max on July 10, follows modern American families as they attempt to live like 1880s homesteaders. Among the featured cast is a pair of Texas fathers and their 10-year-old twin sons, born via surrogate.

The inclusion of the same-gender couple has sparked backlash from some conservative viewers, Christian pastors, and online commentators. Critics have accused the couple of “promoting anti-biblical values”
